Finally, at last and a royal huzzah, page rank is dead!

Or at least the Page Rank us mere mortals can see, the one that shows up in every SEO toolbar beloved by every SEO peddler on the planet.

Matt Cutts said last year it was all over for PageRank, then confused us all when Google apparently accidentally updated the public PageRank last December.

But John Mueller, a senior Google search engineer spells it out on a Google hangout.

So that's it, the obsession with PageRank can now disappear into history.

There is on current downside, no doubt it will take a long time for this message to sink in, so the current PageRank your website or pages are showing, is the one the one that will remain as long as PageRank tools continue to display them.

So as this forum moved home after last December, we shall forever be known as a PageRank 0

Behind the scenes, it's widely accepted that PageRank is an algorithm that Google will continue to use, but removing the visibility of it and killing the SEO obession can only be a good thing and not a moment too soon!
