halfords autocentres tend to be pretty reasonable and competitive to quickfit. Also part worns are worth considering if budget is tight.

Hi Jan,

So did you get your new tyres sorted? Bought a pair of Firestone's last year from an online company called "Best4Tyres.com". Non of the usual suspects could get anywhere near them on price and they delivered them direct to my favourite Darlington based garage within 2 days, so someone local got the fitting fee ().

Best part of the deal was that there was nothing to pay online, I paid the local tyre fitter once I was happy with the job.

Tyres are always an emotive subject, choose a soft compound for grip and they will wear out quickly, choose a hard compound for longevity and they will have less grip and probably a lot more noise. Just Remember, the area of tyre in contact with the road is very small and winter is coming - choose the best tyre you can afford, cos it may be the difference between a near miss and eternity.

Tyre sellers now have to give info re a tyres performance in rain and also road noise in db - thanks EU, so you can compare some of the less well known brands with the more expensive ones.

If you want to keep the car stock, then buy what is already fitted (if you trust/like them) and find the cheapest deal on those particular brand tyres - seemples.

Cheers - Tom

Thanks,

Hi Tom

Thanks for all the info' very helpful - not got them sorted as yet but have made a shortlist, reason being, got an issue with the wheels, ongoing with Honda at the moment (surface of the alloys is coming off!) so back and forth until I can get customer satisfaction, which isn't very forthcoming at the moment!

Seems to be customer satisfaction only applies when your(me) is spending more money!!!

cheers
