Also...If I put winter tyres on for all year round anyone know if this would make a noticeable difference when driving in the summer months!!!

You arent supposed to drive winter tyres in the warmer weather, you will effectively wear them out - i have a friend that takes summer tyres off and then puts his winter ones on, personally i dont bother.

I had a tyre company come to the office when i needed some, i couldnt get a better price - if you look up Tyres on the Drive, you can then search for your tyre size

Big fan of mobile fitting services, I've used a couple, was really impressed with Event Tyres and can't rem the name of the other company, but also very good

Interesting chatting to you the other day and you mentioned alloy wheel corrosion, was a real eye opener!

Apparently Jan was talking to a wheel specialist who claims one of the biggest problems with alloy wheel corrosion is the chemicals used by some hand car washing outfits. The chemicals can be pretty harsh, and if you have any stone chips, it can get between the alloy and the protective layer, lifting it and exposing it to road salt etc.

Would certainly explain why my 4 year old RR alloys are starting to corrode  Although the fix is to be less lazy and wash it myself

...picking up on the "lazy" aspect yours truly should of posted the info above!!!

Well done Mr.R

Yep, my alloys are peeling 3 yrs and just over, surprise surprise just out of Warranty!!! bouncing back and forth with the dealer as we speak  might have a bit more info soon watch this space! Oh, also got a few good quotes in on tyres weighing up my options!

before I hand over the monies.

I ALWAYS hand wash my car/s.

Apart from the sense of satisfaction that I get 'coz i did it, its cleaned to my standard and if i missed a bit i dont feel cheated, its a good bit of exercise (especially when im polishing) and you dont damage the paintwork as much as those huge rollers, that capture all the grit form the car that used the machine before you!

Buy a bucket, a clean sponge, a leather and a bottle of decent car shampoo - it takes 45 minutes to wash and dry my family saloon - 10 mins to vac it out, 10 mins to wipe over the leather seats & dash -  another 90 mins if im polishing it - thats my Sunday mornings

I leave this type of thing to the husband, but i think he too used a mobile company, they were cheaper by loads. Gave me more money to buy the next handbag so all was good !

Thanks,

Your maths is spot on - didnt catch the point

It gets polished around every 2 months, cleaned usually once a fortnight MAYBE once a week if its really dirty, having said that its not been cleaned for 3 weeks now !!!!

I usually do it on the weekends i dont have the boys - its a great pass time

I was in Wales last weekend, seem to have brought half a beach home with me - guess what i'm upto this weekend, especially as i was driving on a beach (legally) !
