Now that 2012 is nearly finished, what are your predictions for 2013?

Mine are, interest rates to gradually start rising, once the current Bank of England Governor retires in June.thumbsdown

More well known high street stores to collapse and be replaced with yet more coffee house chains.thumbsdown

Higher unemployment.thumbsdown

More homes being reposessed.thumbsdown

Bankruptcies up.thumbsdown

More migration of Eastern Europeans. (The Bulgarians and Romanians are coming)thumbsdown

More flooding.thumbsdown

Fuel prices to keep rising.thumbsdown

More larger organisations to be 'outed' for not paying their fair share of tax.

RBS shares to continue to rise.

SEO consultants to remain as the number 1 of spammers.thumbsdown
(So no change there then)

Plumbing rates to rise.

So, Happy New Year to you all

Thanks,
Barney

Disagree, it will be 99p shops and charity shops!
Higher unemployment.thumbsdown

Nope, these will be aspiring entrepreneurs who will be in need of online advertising and I know just the bloke to help them out...
More migration of Eastern Europeans...

I'm thinking there will be an invasion of Aupairs from Sweden to help out all the new busy entrepreneurs
More flooding.

Nahhh, we are due a heatwave and drought, otherwise I want compensation on all the global warming claptrap I've had to listen to for the last 10 years!
Fuel prices to keep rising.thumbsdown

hmmm can't argue there
More larger organisations to be 'outed' for not paying their fair share of tax.

Now if that was an election manifesto, I'd vote for you!
RBS shares to continue to rise.

...and Lloyds now I sold out on both
SEO consultants to remain as the number 1 of spammers.thumbsdown (So no change there then)

True, but we think we have finally found a solution to stop them landing here! Or at least we're getting there!
Plumbing rates to rise...

What? With all these Poles willing to work for a Jammy Dodger and a packet of smarties?

My Predictions
  • I reckon this year we will see one of the Pet chains collapse, as Pets at Home seems to dominate the market.
  • Maybe the final death dive of the UK arm of Blockbuster? No idea how it is still trading and competing with the likes of netflix etc.
  • Possibly a supermarket chain buyout/merger?
  • Guarantee will we hear continual references to Eurozone crisis, the last chance (again) for Greece, Spain, Italy, Ireland....
  • Triple dip recession? Quadrouple dip? Looks like the USA is about to slide again, no doubt that will drag us down to.

But on the upside, Google will wake up one day and feel the need to buy a quality directory for millions of pounds and I'll go live in the Caribbean on a diet of lobster and rum

I'm not sure but i heard facebook is going in a loss (many must have heard this too). A rumor? true?

And McDonalds is facing loss too. True?

I think Facebook profit expectations were overhyped, but I'm sure it still turns a healthy profit.

And McDonalds is facing loss too. True?

They reported a downturn and it was widely reported they are facing stiffer competition, but I think it's far from a loss. Plus we're all getting fatter so I doubt there's any shortage of customers But who knows, maybe a fitness crusade will bring the end of the burger chain?
