Client relationships 20th February 2012 9:55 PM
It's quality service all the way! Giving away free gifts will in no way make up for a substandard service to clients.
If you're exhibiting at trade fairs then having some gifts such as pens, etc as well as corporate literature may be worthwhile I'd say.
I voted number 1. If you can grow your business effectively in a bad economy then as things either stay the same or improve slightly then there's no reason that 2012 can't be a year of continued growth.
It seems there will always be people out there to deceive. The irritating thing is that they only need to con maybe 1 in 1,000 or 1 in 100,000 or whatever to make good money.
How to Get More Back links......... 20th January 2012 11:11 PM
I've found directory submission, forum commenting, article submission and blog posting/commenting to be the best ways to get good backlinks. All from relevant subject areas to what you're linking back to of course........
Adwords good or bad? 8th December 2011 10:56 AM
Yes,Steve's comments are spot on here. We use Google Adwords all the time and we get good results.
It's so easy to analyse and see the benefits.
You need to keep a close handle on the budget and regularly monitor and make improvements/ adjustments.

do you know of anyone software that enables me to find out which back links they are using?

I use www.backlinkwatch.com but there are a few others. It's just a website that you go on, input the webaddress of the site you want to check the backlinks of and it will show you. dead easy.
Ok so have you approached these blogs trying to guest post and then they reject you?

If so and they really are your competitors then you need to think a little outside the box

So you say you can produce an article a day? ok so instead of putting these articles up on your website you should create an account on ezine articles and some other article directories. Then you submit a few articles to these places which will give you a link back to your website in the resource box. Thats a good way to start.

If this is not enough or you want to really think out side the box.. then go to wordpress/blogspot/blogger/tumblr a few of these blogging sites. You then setup your own blog for free, and you create the blog about the theme of your business and the keywords your trying to target.

e.g. plumber in london.. you create the subdomain plumberlondon.wordpress.com you should try and get your keyword your trying to rank for in the domain .. keyword.wordpress.com

then you put these articles up on the blog, but the first few articles you put up shouldnt have any links back to your site, otherwise they will look spammy blogs and not give you much value. Then after a few posts you start adding links to the articles you post from then on.

no you can do this with all types of blogging sites like wordpress/blogspot. but you will need to do a few backlinking to these sites you create but the dont need to be as good links as you would get to your own site.

These sites wont be as good as getting a link from other well established blogs but you get a bit of value from it.

Hope it helps.

This sounds like it could be a good idea in theory. Does this definitely provide decent results?

Yes, Steve's advice is good. I'd also suggest having a look at where your competitors are getting their back links from and see if you can also get some of these links too.......
How to link build correctly? 2nd September 2011 3:33 PM
Yes, I think you also need to continually add more links as well. If you get some good backlinks to your site but then leave it for months without doing anything then I think you'd find that your ranking on Google would fall considerably.
By regularly gaining more (quality) backlinks from a variety of sources you'll give yourself a better chance of continually ranking highly..............

Yes, common sense is vital. It's not all that common though.....
You certainly need a plan. Once you have your initial idea then you need to put together a plan - doesn't really need to be too formal - just so you know what you need to do.
You also need to consider all the potential pitfalls before you start. I'm not saying that you shouldn't go ahead even if you're aware of possible pitfalls - but you will need to have the determination, ideas and common sense to get over these.
