Creating a couple of blogs of your own is an easy win - you can post interesting on topics then drop in the odd link to good pages within your own site.

Provided you don't go over the top - with 100's of blogs and too may posts it seems to work.

At least that keeps things under your own control.

Mostly try to get related backlinks. Check the site for nofollow, pr and our link position on that website.
I think one way links are most useful like social bookmarking.

Stay with White hat link building - as you'll end up getting penalized in the end if you end up using black hat methods. (Check Google's web-master guidelines, they are pretty clear)

Most of the usual methods have already been said, however I would say that article directories aren't as good as they used to be and I'd avoid spending time and resources on building links on them.

Yes, I think you also need to continually add more links as well. If you get some good backlinks to your site but then leave it for months without doing anything then I think you'd find that your ranking on Google would fall considerably.
By regularly gaining more (quality) backlinks from a variety of sources you'll give yourself a better chance of continually ranking highly..............

It's important to remember that the aim of SEO is to increase your standings in the search engines to receive a greater level of organic traffic.

Due to this, it's always advisable to develop your online presence and implement your SEO strategy organically - the more you update your business blog with quality content for your customers and the more active you become with social media resources and on forums, for example, the greater number of links you'll create and the higher you will rank in the search engines for specific terms.

This is, of course, a basic view of the entire process, but it should give you something to think about.

You have to generate link on quality content with the help of Off page SEO tasks like directory submission, article submission, profile submission, forum posting, social bookmarking.

You can build links in many different ways. All of the ways mentioned in this post are still valid.

The ones that I find most effective are in producing high quality, interesting blog content for your own blog and as a guest blogger for other respected blogging sites.

Make sure your links are relevant ie from websites that relate to the same topics that yours does. This should be on everyone's agenda as a link doesn't just assist with your ranking but it's also a possible avenue to gain a lead from a prospective client. You would only want visitors from links that you have posted who would be interested in your products/services wouldn't you?

In link building content plays an important role. There are many techniques in Off page SEO like forum posting, article submission, social bookmarking by which back links by can be generated correctly. Links with the help of these techniques are good also.

In my point of view paying/buying and getting anything is only temporary. But do something manually/free and getting is permanent. SEO's key point is Patients.
Do Social Bookmarking, Directory Submissions, Classifieds then you will get links back.
Follow with free submissions. Dont go for Paid ones.

I thought it would work the other way around? Meaning you get more for a paid listing than a free one. Webmasters are more likely to remove free listings to make space for ones that help them pay server fees, and a lot of the free directories I've seen that are worth anything, give you a time limit as to how long your links are on there site. Which is why i thought a paid subscription would be better.
