Here's an interesting post, it's talking about adverts in the states, but is also happening in the UK.

Sites set up to look like news sites, but are actually just peddling a product through fake editorials.

some businesses rely on misleading and misdirection probably because their business or product just inst strong enough

It seems there will always be people out there to deceive. The irritating thing is that they only need to con maybe 1 in 1,000 or 1 in 100,000 or whatever to make good money.

These misleading ads also annoy me. But what's even more annoying is the one that pops-up every time you click the close button.

These are all over, advertising everything from miracle cures to illnesses to diets, you name it. It all looks legitimate, but I think there are a few ways you can check them out.

There is some info here at scambusters

It's commonly known as a "flog" -- a fake blog -- and the con-artists who run them and bogus news sites are currently raking in an estimated $750 million a year selling products of questionable value, from supposed miracle cures to phony anti-virus software.

As well as the fake news type blog sites ("flogs!" haha) there are the countless fake review sites providing made up ratings of anything from hoovers to genital wart treatments.

You can generally spot them a mile off compared to real or at least honest review sites but they obvisouly work in conning some people otherwise there wouldn't be so many of them I guess. I do think people are getting a bit more wise though now which is forcing website owners to provide better content but there is still a long way to go.

This type of site are giving a bad user experience to internet users. People are becoming more cynical of sites and search results. Here is one example I came across recently. It comes across as if Plus Net has 5 star review from their customers: PlusNet Broadband review | Expert Reviews

And here is their real review on review centre: PlusNet Broadband www.plus.net Reviews with Best Broadband Reviews at Review Centre

Guess which one ranks higher when you Google plus net reviews!
