Do you lie to your kids? Obviously 27th January 2013 6:41 PM
To blokes they are noisy vomiting poo machines that all look the same...

And I can honestly say that observation continues in to their late teens and early adulthood! (for the boys anyway).
My Daughter however became a little princess from the age of two and I did everything to keep the smelly poo boys away from her...she is now 25..!
I have failed miserably and will become a grandad for the first time in March....
I have no doubt my boys (affectionately called idiot son one and two) will follow suit with off spring of their own very shortly.

Bring on the Poo...

Thank you I will set the date again, and hopefully this time I will do it.

Well as a horrible January comes to a close, stressed because of a drop in retail sales, poor online sales and the threat of working for G4S as a probation officer has caused even more upset.

Guess what? In 3 weeks I will have been a non-smoker for 1 year and this thread has been viewed over 4000 times.

I am hoping Dreamraven will be joining me as a non smoker very soon.
Child Benefit changes - fair or unfair? 22nd January 2013 8:09 PM
I guess I'm old fashioned

Aneurin Bevan believed that the Second World War was the opportunity for Great Britain to create a brand new society.
Often quoting Marx in that:

"The redeeming feature of war is that it puts a nation to the test. As exposure to the atmosphere reduces all mummies to instant dissolution, so war passes supreme judgment upon social systems that have outlived their vitality."

During the 1945 General Election Bevan told his audience:

"We have been the dreamers, we have been the sufferers, now we are the builders. We enter this campaign at this general election, not merely to get rid of the Tory majority. We want the complete political extinction of the Tory Party."

Bevan was a dreamer, he was a marxist but most of all he was family man with traditional family values. He wanted to support those in society who fell on hard times. The welfare state was designed and aimed at helping those who had put in and contributed to the sytem, it was never desigend to be the system.

"But" he failed in his desire to achieve the complete political extinction of the tory party. Chris Grayling is living proof of that!

not to worry, each attempt is another step closer. I tried and failed four or five times before it happened. It is blue Monday today, according to those who know it is the saddest day of the year. So if there was ever a day to fall of the wagon this was it.
Try again when you are ready and I know you will make it.
Good luck x

You ladies! You can justify anything Right where's the chocolate...

You're doing well Sami 10/10, and nearly 12 months for Ray! Holy Moly.

With all the cash he's saved, I reckon he should organise a forum party and treat us all

Agreed, 10 out of 10 Dreamraven....keep it up, every day you go smoke free makes me smile and gets you one step closer to your goal. It does get easier honestly.

I genuinley think MLF helped me to stop smoking in the first place and I would love treat all those who encouraged me "but" (there is always a "but" in my job). Given Mr Grayling would now like me to work an extra 5 years, pay 30% more in to my pension pot, take a massive pay cut and work for G4S who will give me less holidays but expect me to work longer hours I guess my savings have pretty much gone!

If it is any consolation, the UK govenment gets 85% of the cost of a pack of cigarettes. In the last 12 months I have saved approx

Dangit, sorry for not updating, tis been a busy few days.

So far so good. Have had a few times where i was on the verge of giving up, but then just chewed down on my gum. Lol. My jaw muscles are getting a workout though lol. Have to keep changing snacks every now and then.

That fantastic news, I do keep my fingers crossed and I check in most days. I really want to celebrate my first smoke free year on the 25 February knowing you are well on your way to quitting too, by then you will be in to your second "month".

For those that don't wish to rest in peace, someone has invented a coffin that plays music on a loop for the afterlife. The tracks can even be updated by your friends and relatives.
