Sahara rain! 2nd April 2014 1:55 PM

How annoyed was I yesterday? Spent most of last weekend cleaning my car, then polishing it twice only to go out after work and find my car COVERED in a red dust.

News reports state that the dust gets caught in high winds and carried thousands of miles before being mixed with rain thus dumping copious amounts of nasty looking stuff all over my once shiny car.

Seems it's only going to get worse too with reports of high pollution over the next few days - won't bother cleaning my car just yet then .....

High Pollution Levels - BBC

I would have thought they had a good market. Shows how little I know. I suppose if you want soft or hard porn, or anything else, with smartphones so readily available, you can get everything online without having to pay for it.”

Thats an excellent point Ryan.

I can imagine that there is still a need for hard copy papers/magazines when you cant access your phone/tablet but the demand must be down catastrophically, how long before we see the collapse of a mainstream paper?

Seems to be getting a few peoples backs up, loads of frustration with perception of the prison service.

Slight tangent - watching a UK Border protection programme the other night.... Border officers raid a Chinese restaurant find 3 illegal workers, all arrested, all bailed, all abscond and now are wanted - what is the point of catching them and then releasing them?

Go back to my original point - our whole justice system needs a dramatic overhaul and put someone in charge that tells Brussels to take a flying jump - its our Country, our rules, if you dont like it dont visit - simples !!!!

F1 Season starts .... 14th March 2014 11:09 AM
Well after a short winter break the F1 season starts again this weekend. Will anyone be braving a 6am start as the lights go green in Melbourne, or will i be up on my own?

With the biggest engine change for many years will it throw the final result in the air? Do you like the new car designs? Will we see a new champion, or will Red Bull be on the top for a 5th successive year.

Love him, or hate him, Vettel did have the best package and got the max out of his car - can he do it again?

Im hoping Williams can pull something out the bag and get back to the good old days.
Motivation and Business 11th March 2014 1:32 PM
I too have worked for some large organisations (Commercial Union before its buy out) to one man band insurance brokers.

Ive always had the same attitude no matter where i worked - that was to work hard and give my all. The rewards usually came year end in my pay packet.

I was lucky enough to go on a few jollies with my last company and also a few motivational days - have to be honest loved the jollies, (racing cars, clay pigeon shoots), but i was never in favour of the motivational days & it didnt inspire me to do any better for the company.

Maybe I was one of the rare few that just loved their job and jumping up & down with a room full of strangers chanting do better, just wasnt my thing.....
You know what? I have no feelings towards Scotland one way or another, in fact I don't even think about the country, I've always thought of the United Kingdom as being one country. I think they have far more to lose if they do decided to break away and become independent, I'm not even sure what they have to gain by becoming independent. My main concern is where we're going with Europe and the sooner we have a referendum the better........

To be honest I always just saw us as one Country too, i dip in & out of Wales quite frequently, dont see it as leaving the Country, same applies to Scotland!

Lets hope they see sense & stick around.

Now Europe is a different topic - as the Shepard said to his dog - lets get the flock out of there!
Hadnt really paid much attention to all this Scottish Independence, be a shame if they did vote yes, but it doesnt really affect me, or much so i'd notice but this just caught my eye -

Standard Life plans for Scots exit
One of Scotland's biggest employers is considering moving some of its operations out of the country as part of contingency plans being lined up in the event of a vote in favour of independence.

Standard Life plans for Scots exit - MSN Money UK

Wow - hadnt really thought of a Financial Institution as big as that even consider moving due to a YES vote, even RBS are quoted as saying that although they are political neutral they could suffer as a result to their credit rating.

Seems there is a lot at stake i'd not even thought about!

So what do you think - are we/they better off independent, or should they stay?
A new content metric - Attention minutes 11th February 2014 1:06 PM
Hmm - not surprisingly im not sure i agree with this.

If you are a directory, then the purpose of your visit is to obtain contact information, once that information has been obtained i will, more than likely, then go and use that info not stay on the site & surf.

So yes in some cases you could measure minutes, in others page-views is still very much the tool of the trade.
