Tell Me a Joke Game 26th March 2013 5:16 PM
Dont know any lawyer jokes - come on, someone must know a few
It just baffles me - are the officers not covered under insurance for injuries at work?

I just dont get how they can sue the owners of the car when they arent even in it
This caught my eye whilst nibbling my sandwich -

Car crime victims 'financially penalised' by police claims, read more here -

BBC News - Car crime victims 'financially penalised' by police claims

Has the World really gone mad? So a Police Officer is hurt in a car chase trying to recover a stolen car - the car is trashed , so you claim on your policy for a new car, bonus is affected & your a bit peeved - imagine your surprise to receive a summons against you ( not the git who stole the car!) because the officer got hurt in the chase - how is this so?????

It says in the report the thief is unlikely to have any assets, so why should your insurance policy cover the police? Why are they not covered whilst at work?

What should happen is the little sh1t that stole the car is sued by the police & have his benefits cut or made to work unpaid until his debt has been repaid - of course that wont happen because some idiot in Brussels says its against his Human Rights - he lost all those Rights (imho) the moment he stole the car & rammed the police car!!!!

Thoughts?
Day 8 - ok i cracked yesterday - i have battled all week & just couldnt face another coffee without sugar BUT i am now only on 1/2 a level spoon not a full heaped one like it used to be so a fair compromise i feel

Hi Sue

Im a bit confused - seems you are mixing different problems here.

To start im not a legal person, just offering my advice & thoughts.

When you had the first flood, sounds like you had some contents damaged - could you not claim on your insurance? Yes the landlord is responsible for the roof but he wouldnt have known about the problem until you told him. Your insurance would have paid out for contents damaged as a result of the flood, but its not your problem to cover the roof, he would have separate buildings insurance. You may also have been covered for Business Interruption, do you know if you covered that?

Recurring leaks arent necessarily the landlords fault, he entrusted a roofer to do a job & it sounds like the roofer did a poor job, not the landlords fault but accept its his problem to sort, but again he wouldnt have known this until the next ingress of water.

Then you come to unfit premises - thats actually a different problem and thats where you need legal advice as im not sure if you can just walk away from a tenancy agreement, unless you had documented evidence you have been in communication with the landlord, ie written letters asking him to resolve the problem etc and the landlord has refused or not made good the problems you have pointed out.

Not sure if ive helped much, but those are my observations from a high level pint of view.
I didn't know sugar was fattening, I haven't had sugar in coffee or tea for years, not sure of the reason why I stopped having it, its just something that happened, now if someone gives me a coffee with sugar in it, it makes me want to vomit. I'm with you Clive on the takeaways, far to many of them, more out of convenience than anything else especially if I get home around 8pm and its rather costly aswell...

Theres about 4-5grams of sugar in a teaspoon - heaped nearer 6g - ok not a staggering amount but 6gs of sugar is 24kcal -over a an average day i drink around 6 cups of coffee - 6 x 24kcal = 144kcal - again not a huge amount but its a few kcals i can cut down on

Have to admit, fell off the no drinking & chocolate wagon last night - youngest was in A&E with a bump to the head - picked him & his mum up & dashed to hospital, then dropped them off, getting home at a respectable 10.15pm, couldnt help myself & had glass of whisky & slab of white chocolate.

Had a text from Dean this morning, he is fine & gone to school

Day 4 - still no sugar in my coffee
I can lose the chocs, takeaways and alcohol.....but how do you manage coffee without sugar??

Yep im with you on this - it does taste a bit weird but slowly, very slowly getting used to it - reached for the sugar earlier, was just going to add 1/2 a spoon.................. temptation resisted

Just spat my coffee across my desk reading this - Thanks Barney !

Ingenious take on the insurance rip off of staged accidents - love the concept lol

Of course we are all openly talking about fraud here, so for all the doo-gooders out there- this post is poking fun at a situation and is not being publically endorsed.
There I was clippering my hair , youngest son helping when he says to me - Dad why is your belly so big? Thanks son

Has been a rather stressful few months personally so have to admit hitting the takeaways frequently, a bit too much alcohol & plenty of chocolate and of course sweet coffee !

So not actually going on a diet but as of Sunday ive not been adding sugar to my coffee, cut out the daily mars bars and sweets, plus no alcohol on a school night. Takeaways will become a monthly treat again not 3 times a week!

Day 3 begins ...... so far so good

Can I inspire anyone else to join me?

Will keep you posted ............
