What is your favorite operating system? 26th August 2011 11:27 AM
XP, definitely. Less hassle, less bugs etc. I liked working on 7 though. I did an install on a PC I built for a relative and had fun playing around in it, but got bored after a while. I had Gentoo linux once, had it multiboot with windows using a GRUB loader, until I had to re-install windows and couldn't get my friend to redo the grub loader, and couldn't get it working myself, I just gave up and stuck with XP. I have never used a Mac either, but I have apples OX on my iPhone.
Couldn't resist...... sorry. lol

I thought I would try something, different. We all take part in forums, and we all get to see the seedy underbelly of the folk that try get under our skin and make our time on forums less pleasant. Every forum has their rules, some aren't the same as others, so I thought I would ask everyone here what their own pet peeve was when it comes to forum posters. What do you really hate? (too strong a word?) and why (of course).

For me? its not a long list...
  • "Thanks for sharing" ~ seriously, if you can see the thank button use it
  • Really short answers to a post like "it works great for me" ~ ey? what worked well for you and what did it do? You could be talking about kleenex for all I know. lol
  • Taking over another person's thread because you don't want to create your own or just feel like being a dictator.... (that would make you popular alright ).

I guess I could go on, but it wouldn't be half as much fun.
A Google Question about sitelinks. 26th August 2011 10:47 AM
Yea, I know this question has been asked a million times before, but I am genuinely stuck and don't have a clue at what I am doing wrong. Our sitemap has 51 out of 89 urls indexed, but still I don't have any sitelinks. It just shows the metadescription etc. like you would normally find in a search.

It's kind of deflating for me because I have ranked the site for its keywords, and ranked it well even though they are competitive keywords, but i cannot for the life of me understand why I get the normal search instead of sitelinks

I know its not really important, but it's just me, I would like to see our site with its own sitelinks

I will definitely have a look at that. Talk about taking an old horse to water You know I have learnt about 5 times more in the last 2 years than I have through high school? (Interesting).

(I do have a q, but its not related, will start a new thread)
If you have a problem - if no one else can help - and if you can find
them - maybe you can hire: The Virgin TiVo team...

naaaa needs more work...

It's guerrilla marketing at its best for sure, even though it seems a little lame that people would even dress up as the characters.. I'm left wondering who's going to be scooby doo
Why would you lie? 26th August 2011 10:12 AM
There are a lot of networks on DA that watch the net. They are just about as fed up with art thieves as forum admin might be with copy pasters.

I feel that everytime I log into my own deviant art page, I feel dwarfed by the amount of talent on that site, but I still create my own art pieces. I'd rather learn to do it myself, than take someone else's work and claim it as my own. At least I learn something in the end.

LOL you have no idea how friendly I am with that ban button We're on a first name basis already
Apple Boss steps down 26th August 2011 9:50 AM
I'm not really sure about that, but I did find a post on mashable that showed the letter Tim Cook sent out to the Apple team. (Must have been one heck of an email list)

Team:

I am looking forward to the amazing opportunity of serving as CEO of the most innovative company in the world. Joining Apple was the best decision I’ve ever made and it’s been the privilege of a lifetime to work for Apple and Steve for over 13 years. I share Steve’s optimism for Apple’s bright future.

the letter is here if anyone wants to read it.

I have an idea or two about the use of these rich snippets, I just need to learn a bit more about them first. Looks like they can be really helpful on a site.

I'm sorry if I gave you that impression.

I was recently made a supermod on a forum and I had to deal with one customer that astounded me. They were adamant that they wrote the content, when it was clearly taken from other sites (plural). No matter how much proof I gave them, it made no difference to them because they believed that they wrote the content themselves.

I guess now I can really understand your dislike of copy pasters.
Why would you lie? 26th August 2011 8:23 AM
I can understand that in a way. What really gets me is that sometimes these people believe that what they are doing is right and normal somehow. As if they really believe that they are the original owners or creators.
