A Google Question about sitelinks.

Yea, I know this question has been asked a million times before, but I am genuinely stuck and don't have a clue at what I am doing wrong. Our sitemap has 51 out of 89 urls indexed, but still I don't have any sitelinks. It just shows the metadescription etc. like you would normally find in a search.

It's kind of deflating for me because I have ranked the site for its keywords, and ranked it well even though they are competitive keywords, but i cannot for the life of me understand why I get the normal search instead of sitelinks

I know its not really important, but it's just me, I would like to see our site with its own sitelinks

Thanks,

Must admit, I honestly have no idea how it works. Just woke up one day and they were there. Haven't done anything, and to be honest they can be a pain and used to block some of the ones which seemed irrelevant, although they do seem to getting better.

Doesn't really help, but maybe it's a waiting game?

I' not terribly patient, I have to admit. I've been doing a lot of reading and have consequently tried everything. With that many urls indexed alone in the sitemap surely it should give them something to go on. lol

I think that's your main mistake. It's not really about the overall number of indexed pages on site, as about the actual structure of the website. The process is automated, so the only thing you could do would be to make sure the site structure is as straightforward as possible.

Unfortunately, I would not be able to give particular advice unless you provide a link to the website in question

Nyagoslav

what do you mean by sitelinks?

JamesK

James, I believe they meant this: google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=47334

Nyagoslav

that is exactly what she means. I have been reading and doing a bit of research. We are going to be redoing the site, so I will then be able to fix any problems with the site architecture then. Hopefully then I will get what I need and feel better

Thanks for your help guys.

Thanks,

Go for and check your website for broken links, that's the case as to why sitemap is indicating 51 links out of the available 89 links that should be present on your website.
