If you're not familiar with the work of Steven Wright, he's the famous erudite comic who once said: "I woke up one morning, and all of my stuff had been stolen and replaced by exact duplicates." His mind sees things differently than most of us do. . ..

Here are some of his gems:

1 - I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

2 - Borrow money from pessimists -- they don't expect it back.

3 - Half the people you know are below average.

4 - 99% of lawyers give the rest a bad name.

5 - 82.7% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

6 - A conscience is what hurts when all your other parts feel so good.

7 - A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory.

8 - If you want the rainbow, you got to put up with the rain.

9 - All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand.

10 - The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

11 - I almost had a psychic girlfriend, ...... But she left me before we met.

12 - OK, so what's the speed of dark?

13 - How do you tell when you're out of invisible ink?

14 - If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

15 - Depression is merely anger without enthusiasm.

16 - When everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.

17 - Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy.

18 - Hard work pays off in the future; laziness pays off now.

19 - I intend to live forever... So far, so good.

20 - If Barbie is so popular, why do you have to buy her friends?

21 - Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

22 - What happens if you get scared half to death twice?

23 - My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

24 - Why do psychics have to ask you for your name.

25 - If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.

26 - A conclusion is the place where you got tired of thinking.

27 - Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

28 - The hardness of the butter is proportional to the softness of the bread.

29 - To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research.

30 - The problem with the gene pool is that there is no lifeguard.

31 - The sooner you fall behind, the more time you'll have to catch up.

32 - The colder the x-ray table, the more of your body is required to be on it.

33 - Everyone has a photographic memory; some just don't have film.

34 - If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

35 - If your car could travel at the speed of light, would your headlights work?
I'm not at all impressed and do agree that Google should do something about this. If these sites are so easy to spot then why aren't they on the Google radar?????

I continue to be optimistic that the 'system' will improve. The Google Authorship will (I believe) have a dramatic effect on quality - but this has been taking a long time to emerge from the Google Labs.

I wish we could fast forward past all this Eurocrisis and start moving into recovery. If the Euro's going to collapse, let it happen now before the ECB & IMF bankrupts itself and everyone else keeping the Euro afloat. World just seems to be going round in circles.

Here Here !
I think you would have to be nuts to invest heavily in social platforms, or literally have more money than sense. Look at the history - they blow up to massive sizes, millions of users, their share prices rise, people buy in, then the next development comes along and your investment has gone.

Myspace, Digg, Delicious and there are many more that have lost massive amounts off their value. Why should Facebook be any different. Loads of once avid users I know are no longer that interested in it, and if they ever move to a paid service like was mentioned a while back then I can see loads of users dropping off.

The simple truth is that most of these platforms lose a bucket-load of money - and should the investors pull the plug, then ............... bye bye.

Facebook shares almost 50% down on opening price

Amazing how many people there are around with more money than sense.
Digg Inc., a social-media pioneer once valued at more than $160 million, is selling for the deeply discounted price of about $500,000, three people familiar with the matter said.

The buyer is New York technology development firm Betaworks, which is attempting to revive a news-sharing site that was outmaneuvered by Facebook Inc. and Twitter Inc.
Once a Social Media Star, Digg Sells for $500,000 to Betaworks - WSJ.com

The internet can make millions in months - and lose millions just as fast.
google local question 18th June 2012 1:11 AM
Submit local classified ads for getting local visitors for your website

Unsure of this particular point. But it is very important to be listed in the various local directories such as Thomsonlocal etc. Many of these listings do not include a link to your website but that is irrelevant as these directories are actually a means of cross-referencing by Google.
If Google sees your company listed in the same format with the same address and phone number - then it assumes the details are true/valid and hence your rankings can improve.
Google Penguin Update 24/4 9th June 2012 12:05 PM
Has anyone else noticed how quickly a website can jiggle around the page position for Google since the update? My website is jumping around from ranking number to number three for the keywords Acupuncture, Eugene Oregon. It seems to change on almost a daily basis right now. Seems like SEO is becoming a full time job for me because of the volatility.

The consensus is that Google has got things majorly wrong with these updates. Why else would Google put up a page/form for people to submit their own website if they think they have been unfairly hit? Never happened before.
The worrying aspect at the moment is that there are many market sectors where the SME websites have disappeared from the rankings - only to be replaced by the multinationals or nationals. The quality of the SERPS has actually DECREASED!!
This is not over yet. There is no doubt these algorithm changes have generated a huge amount of bad feeling against Google - never seen that before either.

From what I can see, it doesn't seem to have been a major issue, and any spam removal has to be a good thing.

From my assessment of the situation, this is probably the biggest change in the algorithm and the biggest signal as to 'the new world' in years!!!
I have no doubt, the rankings game is about to change for ever.
Sorry PressureWashing, couldn't let your's go, was too borderline
