European Union

The European Union as a free trade area and defence pact is a good idea.

A common currency does not work unless one country has absolute control.

Germany should go back to the Deutschmark and leave the rest to sink or swim on their own.

As DrIan said, 10 years ago the term was EuroSceptic, now it seems we're in the majority.

I wish we could fast forward past all this Eurocrisis and start moving into recovery. If the Euro's going to collapse, let it happen now before the ECB & IMF bankrupts itself and everyone else keeping the Euro afloat. World just seems to be going round in circles.

As a kid, my parents voted to join the Common Market, the vote was basically about choosing whether or not to have free and fair trading and labour with each country of the european community that was in the common market....That was it, nothing else.
What we've ended up with is something completly different, where we are now paying people from other countries benefits and giving them social housing because they get better rates here than what they would in their homelands. We are paying for an unelected parliament whose members do very little apart from fill out expense forms. Why the UK taxpayer should bale out any other country is beyond me. If it was kept as it was said it was going to be in 1973 & 75 then there would not have been any problems like we are now facing. My gut feeling is that the majority of the UK wants out of this circus now, because they now realise that the majority have been shafted by the minority.... I just hope we all don't end up having another little war in europe again, because were be stuffed as we haven't really got a Navy or Airforce anymore as it's all been scrapped along with most of the other Brittish industries...

Thanks,
Barney

Looks like Europe is in real turmoil, new leaders that don't fit in to the system and countries in financial crisis. Heard a rumour that prosperous countries are lending money to debt laden countries so they can actually buy more goods from the lending country. Does anyone know if there is any truth in this?

What do you think about EU? it is a great unity of Europe.
Every country of Europe are getting benefited by this unity.

Have you any idea about EU?
Is it good or bad ?

The principle was a good idea, but the costs to the wealthier countries have been huge. Where once the UK was a proud industrial country and a force to be reckoned with. It is now not much more than an a international travel port, whose sole purpose in life is to financially bail out other countries, whilst we leave many areas of our own country to rot and self destruct and become no go towns that no business would ever want to invest in..

Thanks,
Barney
