7 Enemies Of Social Media Measurement 24th December 2012 1:56 AM
Not everyone I'd rather use it for business than look at updates about who needs surgery after breaking a nail. (seriously - Its one of the reasons I don't have personal social media accounts.)

Hit the nail on the head. I do have to say though......why no self hosted domain name ?
The Holly Grail of free marketing? 14th December 2012 6:28 PM
Have you considered doing JV's with gatekeepers ? You know people who are likely to have the customers you want to target ? Rememebr you can always hit up your old customers with a new offer
The Holly Grail of free marketing? 12th December 2012 10:22 AM
I appreciate that loads of people are looking for an inexpensive or, dare I say it, a free way to market their businesses, but, not meaning to buck a popular trend, so am I.

I understand that this will probably involve SEO, PPC, article marketing, PR and social media engagement, but these are just the 'what' of marketing, I suppose I'm after more of the 'how' side of things...how do you make these methods work for you?

Any help would be hugely appreciated. I've just set up an e-commerce business and am looking for ways to get the word out about it, though I don't have the funds for flashy ads and long-term Google campaigns.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it's probably better to focus on getting funding rather than trying to bootstrap your marketing. thumbsdown

Free is rarely free at all, in order to use methods such as S.E.O you will need to invest time in learning and implementation, benchmarking and testing, Bottomline when it comes down to it. if you can create content and distribute it effectively you are half way there...tracking is a whole different issue.

I don't know why a lot of business owners insist on 'marketing on a budget' ...this is after all the stuff that generates sales...
Great for branding and PR and customer feedback, Horrible for direct response marketing.
I hate network marketing and MLM however don't let my disdain for it taint the information I'm about to give. Let's get one thing clear...It's a business and like any serious business . You will need to pay for advertising

You want to target users who like similar pages so other mlm pages, mlm guru pages, internet marketing, im gurus, entrepreneurial pages etc

What you want to do first is get your optin form integrated into your page. Next you need to either create a video or ebook and some a little sales copy to give visitors a reason to give your their information i.e " Debunked- The Top 5 Lies About Network Marketing" " Why Network Marketing Is The Easiest, Most Realistic Way To Make Money in 2012" After they have signed up to your email list, you should send a personable follow up series getting them to signup under you.

Now depending on how savvy your company is, you may want them to phone then hear a live presentation then call you personally.
Freelance ? Oh no...replace that with consultant/consultancy
Mobile Website? Any Advice? 25th October 2012 9:55 AM
You will definitely need a mobile site. The rising number of smartphones and tablet usage should be a key indicator of the shift that is about to come. Don't believe me ? Just use the Google Keyword tool and see the level of traffic your keyword gets from mobile and tablet devices.

If you are getting traffic from the search engines from mobile users and they encounter a janky incompatible site -they will leave...NEVER TO BE SEEN AGAIN! I certainly don't want to play catch up I'd like to be ahead of the curve. Mobile sites for photographers should have stunning galleries integrated to showcase your work as well.
It's all still marketing! It's just different mediums! SEO and Social Media is just scratching the surface, there is paid traffic such as PPC, Contextual Ads, PPV, Solo Ads etc .. Just as you have Radio blasts, TV spots, Direct Mail, Print Advertising in the offline space,
You might want to target your audience a little better ....and by that I mean who are the people that buy canvas prints ? where do they hang out ? are there non-competing businesses that i can JV with ?

I'd opt to contact some churches, photographers, photographer associations, wedding planners, interior designers, etc ....
These types of pages are not for the search engines but rather for paid forms of traffic. I wouldn't fret too much about it to be honest. Advertorials are for suckers, it's no different than putting a full page ad in the newspaper and making it look like an "real" article, I've heard they are pretty profitable as well.
