I guess that free's up Dell to take over the world.

Heh...now thats definitely a scary thought.
HP to stop making computers! 19th August 2011 3:21 PM
Always liked HP...hopefully they are making the right call, though I have my reservations. A lot of software products are going open source nowadays so to give up their slots as the worlds largest PC maker is definitely an extreme call.
As long as they don't need to sell in the next several years, they should be ok.

Its like anything though: if you buy at the peak of the market, there is always a potential problem of the market taking a nose dive.

Over the long haul, real estate has traditionally been a solid investment for most persons.
Can Computers Pick the Next Big Thing? 7th September 2010 8:28 PM
It all gets down to the data: garbage in = garbage out.

If there is sufficient research & data to determine what people like for a specific item/niche, and it can be quantified mathematically - then, its reasonable to assume a computer would be able to extrapolate probable things that people would like.

How safe is your personal data! 27th August 2010 6:37 AM
....and that's not including the personal data people are freely supplying via the social media sites (facebook etc) without realising the potential consequences.

See that happen all the time. People go on vacation, and first thing they want to do is post what time they are leaving, when they will be back - and do updates while they are away.........from home (which of course makes them an easy mark for burglars to break into their home and steal their belongings).
Is your business green? 27th August 2010 6:30 AM
Am in real estate, and it seems like it takes an entire tree just to do a deal.

But, things are changing...slowly. Had our first nearly paperless transaction (the deed still had to be signed on paper to be recorded at the courthouse), a couple years ago. And things like electronic documents are becoming more accepted by customers.

So, I'd say not "green" today...but improving.
Between the non Latin character domains, and now some "interesting" tlds like that (also seen efforts for: .sex among others) , definitely becoming more interesting on the web.

.fam and .family both are pushing forward as well (though I just have to wonder how many adult related sites are going to end up on those at the end of the day).
Yup, lots of those here across the pond as well.

Most of them that I've seen seem to concentrate on the end results, rather than the process of getting those end results with leading statements like:

"How would you like to make up to $4300 per day while working from your home part time on the web?"

They then proceed to tell you about how much easier your life would be if you had that sort of income, that you could have enough money to take care of your family, friends, etc - and usually go very light on the actual "how".

I've always thought: if they are truly making so much money with their own program, why are they living the hard life of being on the road doing seminars...instead of being retired.
Excellent point.

Another variation is that there are numerous Google Data Centers - and what you see on your particular data center, may be different than what someone else sees on theirs.

This can happen if Google is rolling out a new algorithm adjustment and not all of the data centers are updated, or if they are testing a change only on specific data centers.
I wonder how the stats were calculated.

Is it based on the ENTIRE population (including newborns, extremely aged persons, etc)?

Based on only those persons that actually access the internet?

Based on only those persons that actually have the ability to access the internet?

etc

Anyway, numbers were lower than I would have initially guessed if I had taken a shot in the dark on it @ only 22 hours and change per month.

But I suppose my perception is probably skewed a bit given the amount of hours each day that I'm online.

Regardless, definitely agree that the numbers should continue to increase with time. As wireless internet, hotspots, mobile devices, etc continues to become more available - and FASTER - the numbers should continue to keep growing rapidly.
