Not always but yeah most of the time. It depends on how good you do your link building.

I found this web page very interesting - It's the Hitchhikers guide to linkless SEO :

Hitchhikers Guide to Linkless SEO
I was phoned by these again today.

What was most interesting was that it was quite soon after I had purchased a whole load of advertising with the local news group, papers, magazines, and 'find it' I just cut the man off and said, "I'm not interested" he was quite pleased I'd not let him ramble on.

It was a different man from before but I would say still from the Liverpool area accent wise.

I listened very carefully to the opening pitch and basically he said something along the lines of, "Hi I'm from the Police consumer news magazine..." then before I cut him off he quoted bits of info that can be easily found from my website.

What would actually benefit everyone is to get notified about something like this if happened. And I think it should be Google's responsibility to let you agree or argue with the flag.
Unfortunately it doesn't seam to be the case.
We are like sitting in a black box without of any controls, everything is decided for us.

It's a valid point. If someone wants to be malicious it seems that they can cause at least several weeks worth of dismay! lol. I shouldn't think of people that way, but that's not to say it does not happen. Several weeks is a mighty long time.

It's a tough one, I'd hang in there, otherwise you will end up with duplicate, and that could cause you a headache later on.

Google Places can be a bit of a minefield, and they have made an awful lot of changes to design, style, reviews structure, the way directory links are shown etc.

I assume it's been a lot of re-positioning so they can slot it straight into their new Google Plus project.

Doesn't help us little folk though

Your right.
Originally I had waited that long for the validation code to arrive that I applied for another one, only for the original one to arrive the next day..

The system seemed to accept the code and everything was fine..

The only thing I can think that might have happened was that a local rival may have 'flagged up' the listing due to the wording as it was?

Now the name change is done, hopefully that's that.

This now is week 5 or 6 since I noticed so It may actually have been longer

It looks like Google is trying to become too clever and thus actually creates pain for many businesses.

I suggest you open a new account and create your place from scratch.

I'm kind of leaning towards that.. it does offer me the opportunity to 'add another' maybe I'll try that one.

Where is my Google place?
I set this all up (what seems like ages ago) then my entry was suspended, I half expected this as the title to my place was my Web title and not my business name. So I altered the titles and now for at least the last 4 weeks I have a message saying "account under review, please allow several weeks" ?

Should I just start the process again, or wait?
Facebook administration problem 9th September 2011 9:51 AM
My one frustration with the Facebook 'Page' system is that you can't access some of the pages when using FB as the page administrator that you can as your own personal log-in.
Am I doing something wrong?

No your not. That seems to be the way it is set up.

One thing you can do, is when you 'switch' to using FB as your business page, is then (on the right hand side) Invite friends to follow your page. It bring up all of your friends that you can then invite to follow your business page.
Best Way to get clients 4th September 2011 9:33 AM
I make an effort to keep the website up to date and running fairly smooth, it has news feeds and a blog which feeds Twitter, Linkedin, FB etc I am a member with several online forums.

Over 90% of leads converting to clients (for me) come from local advertising in newspapers, magazines etc. Half of those either phone me directly or go to the website before phoning or emailing.

I do not technically sell anything from my site but it is a very important step of the process.
How do you Learn 1st September 2011 12:45 PM
I am just wondering peoples learning styles?
I got asked this at the weekend and my answer took me a while.

That sounds like a very interesting conversation.

Not an everyday kind of question.. I'm thinking you were at a seminar of some kind? or a new learning experience?

It puts me in mind of a very useful tool when applied in the right context, the most times I use it is if I'm public speaking. Knowing that people take information in through different channels helps alternate the information to keep everyone awake and paying attention (for now )

I imagine the basic idea of the method can be applied in most areas of business (and life) so becoming aware of patterns and perhaps more useful alternatives.
Why would you lie? 30th August 2011 12:20 PM
LOL that would be perfect I think. But some have a total disregard for that message in any case. I see it almost daily, depending on what search I am doing on Google. For instance, I see so many people taking advantage of material that is by rights not allowed to be copied that can get you into a heck of a lot more trouble than copying and pasting someone else's content, and no matter what the repercussions, they keep at it. It makes me wonder just how far copyright law actually goes to protect someone when they create a service or product for the net.

It's all about taking the steps towards. From a legal aspect I guess the law would say that you need to have terms and conditions on your sites along with privacy policies etc, and if a limited company people have to be able to access info regarding the company where it registered etc, so by that same rational, if someone disregards the message of the disclaimer then your within your rights to start action against people provided you can prove certain things. I have posted my 10 posts so I can post links now yey! Have a look at the info here it may well help you: Website-law.co.uk - The web law blog some of it makes sense.
