Business name and website name 19th February 2010 8:52 AM
Hi guys, havent been round lately, so hello to all the new peeps

Im doing some brain storming, and starting to finally get some planning done for my Interior Design Company. I've had some great help from you guys before, so want to run some ideas past you.

I will be a one person band, so should i look at stuff like "Paula design" "Paula Interior Designs" or should I go for something wacky (like Mr Wobbly Jobs on this forum ).

Also, should I be thinking about the website name as well, or worry about that after, so I could be Paula Design T/A awesomeinteriors.co.uk (i like that one).

I have spent ages trying to come up with something original, and something good for the website but seem to go round in circles. Ive learnt that the website name needs to have keywords in, so i guess design or interior design needs to be in there, so were back to Paula Interior Design

right, cappuccino and crispy creme donut needed for inspiration
Seems bizarre to me though, the more the rates go up the more likely that people are not going to be able to afford the premium thus increasing the number of uninsured drivers, the more uninsured drivers = higher premiums and so the pattern continues

sounds like some kind of crazy chaos theory formula lol

So who lists in the Yahoo Directory? 20th January 2010 2:22 PM
sorry about this, but if you dont have to pay to be in Yahoo, then what is the Yahoo Directory? Is this something different from their search engine, and like yell.com?
I like Mr Cameron, he's young, full of energy and seems less stuffy than Brown.

It is also very important to know that if you do write off one of your rooms as business use in a mortgaged or owned house the HMRC have a right to own that percentage or take extra tax should you come to sell it on, ie if you have a 5 room house and use 1 room for business, thats 20%, look into this a bit more Paula, there are some horror stories out there, get a consultation with a good accountant first.

Especially with all the penny pinching they are known for and this year looks like they have stepped it up a bit too!

oh my god!!! HMRC could own part of your house Thanks for the tip, will make sure I check that one out

Sorry if I ask a lot of questions

I'm planning my business, and initially I plan to work from home, using a converted bedroom.

I cant see any reason why I can't do this, and I assume I need to check with my mortgage people and house insurance, but there isn't any obvious legal reason why I cant do this?

I want to put in a new telephone line just for the business, doing things like this wont make any difference to council tax etc.

Also ive been told I can claim for things against the business such as household bills etc.

thanks for the help
