Logo's that lose... Leads!!! 28th August 2010 10:44 PM
Interesting post...it all depends on your objective. If you are trying to create a brand then yes you need a recognisable logo that differentiates you from the rest. However, most small businesses are not trying to create a brand. At the same time one of the biggest mistakes a lot of small businesses make in the begining is spending loads of money on things before testing the water. So, if you have a self made website/logo etc it's fine. When you have a budget and you are ready to take it to the next level you can do that...all in good time.

You might be interested to know that the logo in the link below is going to be our new logo. The old one can be seen on the IT Support site. I wouldn't call it superb...but it's not that bad as well. I did that and I also did the old one..before you ask I contacted a few logo/graphic design people...and no better ideas. I also asked a few people for constructive criticism and not to spare my feeling...and many of the people I asked are in ad agencies and do mainstrain marketing and advertising for TV brands...and they all said for a small business it's not bad...it's quite identifiable.

I welcome feedback.

They have agreed to match Steve's offer/deal. I'll look at the finer details tomorrow. Worth a shot.

Anyone from their company reading this thread should take it as positive and should really give us a kickback as we are promoting their business for free. Guys I hope you are listening.

Steve, following our email conversation earlier, I got the following email from the PPC company (paste):

"Steve has got it right re the sliding scale but he has got the threshold wrong I
...like a lot of other mediums, it depends on your product and target audience.

There are a lot of radion listerners. Especially people at work or in cars.

Thanks Steve.

Do they just manage your Google PPC account, or will they do it all (Yahoo/Bing).

Google adwords, love it, rave about it, swear by it

Used it for years, and have consiently good success with it, but have just recently been challenged by an adwords outsourcer that they can tweak our campaign further, absorb the management fee into our normal spend, and give us a better ROI.

Was very cynical, as we get approached all the time, but eventually agreed, and to be fair, they are currently delivering.

They have reduced our actual clicks, making them more targetted, and we are holding at just over 40% for conversion rate, which I can't complain at.

Company is broadplace.com, we've been using them now for nearly 3 months, so still early days, but so far so good.

Steve, how does this company charge - charging structure?

In response to Steve, I agree. It depends on the nature of your business and what you plan to get out of it. I find Yell oversells and it gets crowded so the value of a premium listing devalues. Shame, because it's such a well known name. If they weren't so greedy they could really do well. This and various other factors make me doubt Yell's future.
