I would say if you're work is in the UK, then go with the .co.uk domain.
I don't think I'll ever have the dot.com of my business name as its owned by a large software company. My own silly fault, when I registered it years ago, the .com was available, at the time however I didn't see the need.
So, if you do see the .com domain come available it might be worth more than
I have been looking into CMS's for another organisation. And I guess they have their benefits in that anyone with permissions can make changes, but that is at the same time dangerous.
From what I have seen so far, WP sites show made by WP at the bottom of the page, with a link out. I'm no graphics design master, building design is my thing, but what I use is a Mac only application, Freeway from Softpress.
Its really easy to learn and intuitive, you have total control over the content and any links. It's easier than Dreamweaver, and cheaper, but no good if you're planning to develop the site on Windows.
I do wonder sometimes if Adsense devalues a site. I have it on an information page on my site, but I would never put it on the main pages.
I had also found when I did try it out that I had many competitors ads pop up and it was a regular fire fight preventing their pages. In the end I stop bothering with adsense as it was too much of a distraction from my core business.
Potentially a very good thing for it to be privatized, have the whole operation run by business orientated people.
Of course they will be looking to monetize the operation. So lets hope they don't dump loads more junk mail through my door as a way to gain more revenue and pursue more inventive ways of raising funds.
