I hate cold callers and there is nothing that will make me part with money to one either. If I want something I'll go looking myself for it, rather than have someone telling me I need it. The worst culprits for cold calling are..... Have a guess!

Hi James, at present I'm just trying to find out a rough idea of costings to have the existing site re-done from scratch. Once it is done all the files for the site will be sent to me, rather than kept by the the web designer, I will have the offsite SEO done elsewhere and the site hosting done somewhere else. That way I'm in control of what I'm paying for rather than putting all my eggs in one basket and hoping for the best and although the site is currently messy and yuk to look at, it does pay for several mortgages..

Ok, firstly I'm in no rush to get this done, but I am looking into having a website completely re-vamped and a new design some time in the next 3 - 4 months. There is roughly around 8 - 10 main pages and around 90 sub pages (which willl probably need to be increased) at present and a cms page. So basically I am looking for somone who is capable of the complete package i.e. making the existing website look pretty and upto date plus doing all the onsite SEO buff. There is no budget but I am looking for a rough idea of costs.
What online advertising do you use? 28th April 2012 5:14 PM
The problem with advertising in local papers is just that, its local and your target audience if your living up Ben Nevis is rather small I would have thought. Advertising in local papers is expensive I use to spend around
Off topic really, need some advice :) 27th April 2012 10:20 AM
When your friend purchased the vehicle there would have been a 3 way contract. The friend - the dealership - the finance company. The day the contract was signed your friend would or should have received a copy of the financial contract whether it was hand written or not is immaterial. In my opinion the written contract will be the one any county court in the UK will back. However, having purchasd vehicles via dealerships on finance I have never come across a hand written finance contract, its normally printed of a computer in triplicate and 3 or 4 pages with all the small print about payments, bank details etc and when the first and last payments will take place. Also a finance company forging customers signatures, would not go down to well with the financial ombudsman service which for those offering credit agreements, have to be members of.... well thats my humble opinion anyway
I am looking forward to the day I can quit my job. I work for Argos, it is not bad and can be good fun somethimes, I get on with all my colleagues, but there is so much pressure now days to sell sell sell. Every customer I have to ask 'would you like an Argos card', ' would you like to take out the extra care', ' would you like to buy some batteries', etc.... I know customers get fed up with it. Also in the store where I work staff have not been replaced that have left, hours cut which mean less wages. I have set myself a goal to be in a position to quit my job this year, I know what I have to do with my business, ( I sell Phoenix cards and Wikaniko eco friendly products). So just need to keep at it.

Onwards and upwards.

Paul.

And that's the best way to get myself and no doubt many other customers out the of the store, by pressure selling store cards and worthless extended warranties. In fairness I normally give shop staff a warning that I'm not intrested in all the extra stuff and if they keep on about it, I'm leaving. So you'd think that would sink in to the sales reps head. Have left many sales reps thinking that they've just sold me something, only to realise they've sold me nothing....

Barney, plse rethink! A court setting isn't the best place to sort out an administrative mess (as this situation is) and going to court will involve more trouble and expense for you than resolving the problem with the administrators.

Suggest the personal touch will work best. Collect up all the evidence you've got showing that you have replied to all the official emails, they haven't answered your emails to them and that you're a perfectly innocent victim (of their maladministration).

Then ring up Transport for London, explain to the switchboard operator you need to speak to someone with the clout to sort out this hassle (ask who that person might be and what their job title and department is, make a note of the information and only then allow the switchboard operator to put you through).

If they put you through to someone who doesn't answer the phone, go back to the switchboard operator immediately and get her / him to transfer you to someone with the right authority who will speak to you.

Make it clear in the friendliest way you will launch an official complaint if you're not put through to someone willing and able to help and you intend to go up the management chain as far as is necessary to sort out the problem. If you have to put on the pressure, ask what procedure you should follow to make your official complaint.

When you speak to whoever can help you, explain (nicely) why Transport for London has acted wrongly and how they haven't responded to any of the contacts you have made with them to try to sort out the problem.

Talk them through the history of what's happened and send them the emails which prove your case and prove how badly they've behaved to you. Put a read receipt request on the email and follow up if they don't get back to you when they say they will.

Make sure you get in writing from them an acknowledgement Transport for London should not have issued the fine in the first place and that they will put a stop on the fines and court case. Good luck! Linda

I think we've past the point of no return now, besides I'm the least diplomatic person when dealing with bureaucratic nonsense. Sadly this country is now overun with these big brother organisations who are hell bent on making peoples lives a misery, what makes it worse is the general population putting up with it rather than challenging it.

Well this has just got better, on the original penalty charge notice, it states 'All representations against this penalty charge notice must be made in writing or by email' I sent them one via email, an auto response email arrives stating that Transport for London has received it and it may or may not reply and if it does it will be within 15 days. A month passes and a letter arrives saying that the PCN has now gone from
