How To Build Twitter Numbers

I'm still having great difficulty in understanding where or how clients or potential clients materialise from tweets or tweeting all day long. If a customer is looking for something to purchase it's not as though they are going to go to Twitter to look for it, is it? So unless it is to do with pushing a particular link up the search engine rankings, then your going to need quite a few followers all re-tweeting.....

Thanks,
Barney

The world and his wife have twitter feeds plugged into just about everything.

So do a tweet, and it shows up on your Facebook wall, or your linked in profile, or maybe your home page. Until recently, and made more sense, it used to show up in Googles search results, but Twitter and Google fell out.

But I wouldn't waste too much time over it personally.

If I tweet this thread, I can pretty much guarantee it will generate around 30 extra visitors. If one of those then decides to sign up and join the forum, then for me, that's a good conversion.

But now it's no longer automated, I only tweet once in a blue moon, as I normally forget

There is a different psychology related to Twitter and Facebook where users are in a more explorative 'relaxed' frame of mind and more likely to follow links to new websites etc. This makes it a good medium to promote services that people didn't even know they wanted or 'needed' before stumbling across it.

To return to the original question posted in the thread, it would be great if anyone could contribute tips as to how to increase twitter or facebook followings.

You do get some people who do turn to twitter for a service but that from what we've seen it is usually people asking their followers to give recommendation/suggestions. You can use the advanced twitter search function to search for tweets where the person is looking for an graphic design etc. It's worthwhile checking it out every so often.

As for building up followers it is a bit of a slow and time consuming process of trying to develop relationships and becoming a authority in your field or at least produce very interesting texts.

I believe you can also purchase followers as well as likes.... I think you'd be pretty desperate to do so though

Yup, and completely pointless. It's like the same people that buy web traffic, maybe good for vanity and stats, but doesn't put any cash in the bank or bread on the table

Twitter is a major social networking website and it provide quality traffic on your website. You should follow the famous twitter person accounts and tweet their relevant tweets using your targeted keywords and links.

hold up, I don't think I understand this one. Do you perhaps mean, follow someone famous (or popular) on twitter and then alter their tweets mad retweet them with your own keywords? Somehow that seems wrong to me.
