What Are You Listening To Now? 9th September 2015 2:22 PM

Think that's known as touché!

Really feel for you Barney, but hang in there and look at other options to improve your current state.  Totally agree with Steve on this one.

We think it adds a nice touch, we're also now looking at sending out a follow up pack with a couple of posh tea bags a couple of posh biscuits and a branded card saying something along the lines of - "Thanks for inviting Indigo Clean into your home, now everything is sparkling and clean why not put your feet up and have a cuppa on us!" and then a £10 discount voucher to use on their next clean.

This should hopefully increase our conversion rate from one off cleans to regular customers!

Really good idea, and I don't know any window cleaners who do this so it should create good word of mouth recommendations.

Hi, I'm afraid I've no experience of the market in Canada, but I did find this and don't know if you'd find it useful?

Migration at what price? 4th September 2015 2:06 PM

Short answer - there is no easy solution.

However, surely on a humanitarian basis we should allow, whilst at the same time get all the politicians in europe to work together to try and find a solution.

Interesting article and pictures from the BBC.

......This is also a superb marketing coup for Morrisons, which my cynical side is trying to suppress, and I hope we don't have  a story breaking in about 5 years where it was revealed only 5p went to the farmers

But what do you think, is it a good idea? Would/will you pay an extra 10p for your milk?

Or do you believe the industry as a whole should simply pair fairer prices in the supply chain, with the obvious increase in prices for consumers?”

I agree it seems to be painting Morrisons in a good light, but just to clarify according to BBC News:

The NFU said that currently Waitrose, Marks & Spencer, Tesco, Sainsbury's and the Co-op have arrangements where a farmer is paid a price above the cost of production for milk.  Asda, Lidl and Aldi currently do not offer such deals to farmers.

I have no idea how much they are paying farmers but at least some of the other supermarkets are already paying above the cost of production!    So Morrisons are just playing catch up and Asda, Lidl and Aldi are yet to catch up!!

The Airport VAT fiddle 12th August 2015 10:04 AM

Yep, heard it being discussed on the Radio the other day.   Some chap, who used to work at phone4u stated that they looked at opening stores at airports but decided against it as there are more overheads because everything has to go through security people and products and therefore costs are higher as well BAA charging high charges.  So they chose not to open in airports and he reckoned that stores are in there for brand purposes than to make money....       #justsaying

If interested, can still listen to it hear, starts just before 1 hour 30 mins and lasts about a minute.

However, I'm still inclined to keep my boarding pass to myself in future!

Well I agree with you!

What I was trying to say (obviously not very clearly) was that SEO is part of marketing by definition because you are ultimately selling products or services.   I do agree it is a different skill set but aiming to achieve the same goal.

I'll keep quiet now , and look forward to hearing anybody else thoughts....

I've always looked at it as being the same because both are to achieve the same objective i.e. promotion and selling of products or services.  It's just through different avenues.

However, whilst the principles are the same a different skill set is required to understand the digital interaction, as you say.....

........It just means the marketing industry is more diverse and there are more opportunities......

With regards to your other question, should SEO be part of marketing?   It depends what your target audience is.  If you want to drive customers to your business via online platforms then yes, it should be.

Not so much a storage temple as a storage teapot. About as useful as a chocolate one (although I think a chocolate teapot would be very yummy actually).”

Actually a chocolate teapot can be useful as well as yummy! ;-)
