I would like to see news reports of a start-up business that isn't anything to do with computers, apps or the Internet.

Maybe a sign of getting older but it would be great to find out about a company that has done well, grown quickly, has a new idea and wasn't started by some 21 year old Harvard drop out

Have you got a web site and e-mail address on the van too? Perhaps that would help if you haven't. I'm not touting for business now by the way! It's just that everyone knows that's a free way to get in touch so may be more willing to e-mail in...?

I suspect some people may still be being put off because they think they are a premium rate number.

They don't see 0800 and therefore think it costs a fortune to call!

Maybe not but I think it may be the case...

Hi,

What type of number are you using at the moment? A mobile number? Have you considered a 0843 or 0845 number?

We've recently added this as a service to customers. We've found that a lot of small businesses prefer this to a mobile number. Basically our service, and others out there, give you a 0843 or 0845 number which forwards all calls to your normal mobile number. The customers see the 084X number therefore giving a more professional image whilst meaning you don't have to pay for two mobiles, personal and business.

Hi Barney,

I'm sure we could help you out with this. Probably our Web Site Management service would be your best bet. Take a look if you haven't found anyone yet.

The teachers work more then "180 days a year".
In our (Russian) universities we write thousands course programs, research new methodics, and have a lot of science experiments

Actually, teachers do only teach 180 days a year. Normally there are around five training days that they have to work too.

I do not think teachers are over paid at all and I have seen the figures produced by the first poster before - you really do need to do the figures yourself!

It's also very unlikely that you will find 32 students in a class. A maximum of 30 in secondary school classes usually and that's for certain subjects. More dangerous subjects such as P.E. and technology often have lower numbers.

Primary schools have a maximum of 23 students per class, I think. That is also a law so if schools have more than that number, they must employ another teacher.

Are they paid too much? Well let's add in all the 'that silly planning time, or any time they spend before or after school' because actually this is quite important. Marking books and giving good feedback is essential to a student's development.

After school clubs is also crucial especially to those students who do not have parents at home to look after them from 3.30p.m. or come from a difficult background where school is the only place that they feel safe.

Personally, teachers are not paid enough however the real problem is that lots of teachers, especially in secondary education from my experience, are not qualified enough to do the job. I do not mean formally qualified but actually qualified with life skills.

They are often outcomes of a primary school to secondary school to college to university and back to school lifestyle. They have not lived and have little concept of how the world actually 'works'.

Personally I am annoyed at the ignorance of the first poster's message and think that perhaps instead of reading the Daily Mail, he should do his own research and for his own good... not use his company name in his posts when writing such blatant tosh!

Rant over

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your reply. I was hesitant in posting my message but also thought that I've received help from people on here before so thought I would try

I am well aware that my style of writing is not very good for sales purposes so I really need some tips. I am really keen for honest opinions and suggestions so please do not hold back!

I appreciate your comments about the demo sites and I'll take a look at those over this week to see what I can put together.

Thanks for your comments.

Regards

Hello,

We have recently relaunched our web site and to help bring in more clients to add to our portfolio, we are offering a free web site to some small businesses.

I've already put the text below on a forum to help generate interest but would someone take a look and possibly re-write it to make it more appealing or give me some tips?

I'm aware that I am not very good at marketing and my wording is probably all wrong.

Many thanks

James
