My friend has a small business (car wash) with a handful of branches. She needs help in coming up with ways to lower her energy and water consumption. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Only 1 thing I can possibly help with is to use that special cleaning method some of these supermarket washers use ...I have no idea what it is or what it's called though ,but I am sure they know about it or maybe it's not worth using that sort of thing

I'm looking further into saving money on electricity bills and I found a continuos monitoringsolution that might help me reduce our energy consumption. But, I'll make sure to look at that special cleaning method that you're talking about maybe that could help me as well! thanks!

Sorry can't be of any more use than that

Looks like it may the the waterless car wash ,although I am sure it must scratch the paintwork if you not using water

Well if your 'friend' is in the UK, they could leave out buckets as we get lots of free rain here..... In fact we get so much of the stuff it is difficult to understand why we are charged for it....

Have been pondering for a few days since your original post, about the electric usage and why you would need electric, then it finally clicked you must be referring to a jet washer.... Well that's easily solved.... your 'friend' could invest in a 12 volt jet washer and use the customer whose car they are washing own battery to power everything up.....

But knowing that most car washes are cash only, invoice free establishments I don't believe your 'friend' would struggle to pay their utility bills......

Barney

Maybe in the customer waiting room, have exercise bikes wired up to dynamos, and market it as a free gym?

I was thinking of a mouse + wheel + cat + dynamo.....

In my home Town, they use the heat generated from the crematorium to heat the swimming pool next door ! BBC News website

Not sure i agree with it but its one way to reduce your gas bill i guess !
