Hotmail/Yahoo support scam - 0800 098 8424

Looks like we have another take on the continual Microsoft scam, where "advisers" tell you about terrible problems on your PC, which you then obviously need to give them remote access, or they will get you to install dodgy applications, spyware or worse.

I've seen this telephone number number spring up a few times recently, but you can guess which country the support comes from, just by looking at the variety of websites this number is plastered across and the high quality grammar

We had this listing come through this morning on our directory:

Hmmm, inspire any confidence if you have any Hotmail problems? I'm guessing not.

How about this..

Or maybe a Yahoo Weebly free site gives more reassurance?

My favourite part is the author bio on the right:

I don't think Joseph really works for Yahoo. If he does, things really have got bad

As with anything like this, the best protection you can have is a huge dollop of common sense

If you have a problem with your hotmail account, do a search on Google. If you're really stuck, ask a question on the forum, we've got plenty of bright sparks that can help you out.

Never, ever let anyone or any company have access to your computer, or install anything unless you are 100% happy they are who they say they are, and they are reputable.

Google them, do your research, or better still go on a recommendation form some one you trust.
