Hi everybody
I've a WordPress site, assisted by the All In One SEO pack.
Can anyone explain to me please why Google doesn't consistently use the All In One description I've crafted for my Home Page but alternately uses extracts from the Home Page text and image?
I sometimes have the same problem with other pages of the site (not so often, though).
Is it possible to cure the problem please with a "no risk" fix?
For info, the "description" is within the word limit - it's "Bespoke career counselling, career management, redundancy counselling & Human Resources outsourcing services for individuals & employers" (yeah, I know - really snazzy I don't think!). The title tags, keywords, description and page content tie up with each other.
Yours hopefully, Linda
Linda Can you give an example of what you mean, what terms you might search for etc. tomsk
They reckon to display your meta tag if its present instead of pulling other data off the page randomly, but this isn't 100% accurate in their system to do so every time. I dont believe there is much you can do about this. But you could try refreshing the content of the tags and resubmtting for reindexing and see if anything changes. indizine indizine

Indizine: How do you refresh the content of the tags plse (eg go into the site CMS, then press the refresh button next to the address space on WIndows Internet Explorer or what???)? How do you resubmit for reindexing plse? Thanks again for your advice. Best wishes, Linda Linda CareersPartnershipUK
Linda your home page has no <meta name="description" that's why you have little control over what is showing. In the absence of the <meta name="description" google will decided what's best to show the end user. Hope that helps ![]() tomsk
I presumed from what the OP said, that she had the meta description tag filled in and was still getting Google pulling up other page data, which can occasionally happen. But if the tag isnt even filled in then it cant possibly show what you want it to display. I mean refresh as in, re-write the description, then manually submit to Google, etc, or just wait for them to crawl your pages. But that's not know applicable, it just needs adding in to the tag. indizine indizine
THANKS yet again. It's nice to know what's going on. Will check all my pages now for missing <meta names. Best wishes, Linda Linda CareersPartnershipUK
Tomsk and Indizine, just wanted to thank you both again. My Home Page is now sorted out. Dunno whether the sorting out of the code problem is entirely responsible for the Google improvements but you'll rejoice with me, I'm sure. The key words included on the Home page - career counselling, career management, redundancy counselling - are now back on GoogleUK pge 1; and the Human Reources outsourcing is on page 2!! Thanks again, Linda Linda CareersPartnershipUK
I always appreciate it when folks come back to update their threads. Its good to see what has worked and equally, anything that hasn't. indizine indizine
Thanks for taking the time to say thank you ![]() Now what we need to do is start on anchor links for those keywords, changing your signature here on the forum would be a good start ![]() tomsk |
