But big G's argument is that images make up a large part of a web page, and the file formats in use were actually created a long time ago (in web terms
)So Googles come out with WebP, a new format that will compress images more, but without losing the quality.
They've set up a demo page to win us all over, and I've no doubt this will soon be in regular use. I assume it will be cross broswer support
