Courting opinions here to help with my dilema?
The question is Jag XF or BMW 525D M Sport?
I've always driven BM's but I've heard this new Jag is amazing? Has anybody got one that would recommend them..
It's going to take something special to get me out of a beamer?
Never driven either - but Jags to me are flash fords! Although some great reviews for the Jag - the other thing is that Jags really depreciate in value quickly. tomsk
I have never owned a Jag, but I have had M3, and CL55 in the past...in my view, Jag's now stand out quite a bit. They seem less common than BM's and even Merc's and the new models looks very nice and appealing. Whether they are good build is another question! Ryan
See thats what I was thinking Ryan? I've had BM's for 10 years and love them. Never before have I considered a Jag as it's a bit like a Merc to me, it's the car your Dad would drive! But I really like this one! Depreciation wise am not sure, 5 series are 10 a penny these days and my last one didn't hold its value at all. And I'm not bothered about that as i'll contract hire it anyway! Thanks guys but I'm still torn lol.. Cloud4
Phil...put it this way...when was the last time you saw a BM and turned your head. BM's are fabulous cars, but they are everywhere. Even the M6, my personal favourite, is everywhere. The last time I saw one of the new Jags, I did turn to take a second look. Now, I don't drive cars anymore, unless I borrow the wifes. So, my opinion now is as a bystander. I am also very old fashioned, I buy everything, apart from the house cash, so, when it comes to things I love, I throw depreciation out the window. That's just me. So my normal financial commonsense does not come it play. Ryan
Tough call Jags of old always seemed the business, but agree with the dad image, then Ford came along, and you know half of it under the covers is Mondeo ![]() Now it's Tata, so god only knows, maybe they'll push the marque back where it belongs. (still hoping they will replace the Ford Transit Discovery and give us back a decent Disco) Beamer wise, never liked the angular new shape, 3 or 5 series. Had old and new shape 3's, but they are nicknamed Warwickshire Escorts round here because they are so common ![]() Can recommend Audi if you want something different. Currently waiting delivery of an A5 Sport back for the missus, which is what the beamer should look like ![]()
As said already, BM's are pretty common on the roads these days. That being said, the company I previously worked for was ran by 2 brothers, one drove an M5 and the other a Jag XF and personally I preferred the M5. The XF was a lovely motor but still reminds me of an old man's car.
JAG all the way for me. saying that around my neck of the woods you either have an XF or a range rover sport unless you are poor like me and have a crappy baby bus. ![]() We all know the puns about BM drivers, and they are now migrating to Audi. Sorry Steve. ![]() and the new jag is not a ford in disguise for once they actually built something ground up and it shows. I do agree with the last generation of jags you pick up an x type and inside you cant tell the difference between it and a Mondeo. Stavros
Why is common such a bad thing? To me it just says how good a car it is. That being said, if I were looking at an M5, I'd have a serious look into an Audi A6. Thanks, theflyerexpert |
