One thing I would say that when doing social bookmarking or submitting your ad on classified sites, always write new content. It maximize your website chances to be crawl fast by search engines and up your rankings over your competitors.

What about introducing online chat to your key pages to build a relationship with your users?

We've just integrated zopim.com as a trial to our homepage and sign-up. It's a functionality rich service but quite time intensive to manage and chat to people.

Would be good to know what you guys think about them (from a surfer and site owner perspective)?

I agree but article writing must be unique and only published on one site post Google panda. We've used lots of sites recently (ezine / hubpages / squidoo / blogger / goarticles) but squidoo definitely works the best post panda.

If you google 'top 5 business directories' you will see one we did a few weeks ago (5 down from the top of page 1).
