Brace yourselves for the latest major Google Update, in it's ongoing drive to make search more relevant for users and life ever harder for businesses

This latest update is called "Search Plus Your World". It went live on Tuesday for some Google.com users and will be gradually rolled out, no idea when it will hit the Google UK or anywhere else.

The idea is that a new "Personal Results" view appears when you do a search, blending general results with personal information, from maybe Google+, shared photos, info from social connections etc.

There's already a storm of protest brewing in the States regarding privacy issues etc, but from a business point of view, it will be interesting to see how this latest change to the search results impacts your keyword search results etc.

Guess for now we will have to watch this space.

Danny Sullivan from Search Engine World has a good post and screen shots about this new functionality.

Google's Results Get More Personal With "Search Plus Your World"

So what does anyone think, good bad or indifferent?

Just noticed this for the first time on a .co.uk search, so it's arrived on the google.co.uk

Hmm, dunno if this will be good or bad? Guess it will force us all to use Google+

Great article from Search Engine Land

Googles Search Plus your world results can now include more than Google+ by adding a plug in.

Great argument, why should results be restricted to one social network, wouldn't it be great if they were impartial and included all of them.

eg, someone updates their FB page today, does some tweets, but doesn't update their Google+ page for a couple of months, which site will be more relevant?

But include them all in one location, and Google still wins by being the source for the search inquiry. Guessing we will see a lot of development and debate around this over the coming year.

Will be interesting to see what (if any) impact it has on businesses and SEOers.

If you want read more about this, then following article is well worth a nose.
