Fuel crisis

I don't think the Government are too worried about any possible fuel crisis. Currently we have 100s of buses both double and single swanning up and down the dedicated Olympic lanes with around on average 4 people on board including the driver. Then we have 100s of the BMW's with the so called VIP's onboard, not the best of motors to choose for either fuel consumption or fuel emmisions, then we have the heads of state in Daimlers in packs of two with three motorbike outriders at the front and another three at the back. Finally there is a bunsen burner in Stratford thats burning gas at an incredible rate and will remain lit for the forseeable future. No doubt all these carbon emmisions will be offset against something else to fiddle the UK's carbon quota. So as to the fuel crisis, I don't believe there is one, that is until in two months time when 86 year old Doris who lives up the road has to decide whether to have a bowl of soup or to turn the heating on. Now that bunsen burner in Stratford thats burning merrily away could probably provide enough heating and hot water for a 1000 plus homes. Sometimes we just never get our priorities right...

Thanks,
Barney

Maybe it will be like our Birmingham Centenary flame of hope, which was to burn for ever after being lit by Sir Cliff in 2000, but got switched off in 2001 as the Council couldn't afford it
