This is on my to do list for lifetime goals! Have a voucher to go for a suck it and see flight, so will probarbly go to Wellesbourne airfield which is just round the corner from me, and prob your closest as your in Stratford.

Seriously expensive hobby though! Shall let you know how I get on after my first flight

I have a remote controlled one - does that count lol?

Always wanted to do my PPL but was quite happy with fixed wings after Mike Smith dropped his hele out of the sky and hurt both himself and Sarah Greene

Mind you you can say the same about planes and a few famous names crashing too. Always made me smile when Gary Numan released This Wreckage a week before dropping out the sky in one of his planes lol, but if memory serves you wouldnt have been born then

Me too and apparently it does, they say if you can fly a radio controlled heli you can pretty much fly the real thing, the controlls and the way the thing reacts (ie principles of flight) are identical.

Personally, knowing how difficult they are to fly, less so the bigger and less twitchy ones, I wouldnt bother. I'd end up going to scratch my balls or answer the phone or something dumb and ditching the thing.
