How hard is it to start a forum in gift industry?
How long did it take to establish this forum?
Jerry D
Starting a forum is easy, there are plenty of freebie forum software sites, or you can pay for something like this one, which uses vBulletin software. Establishing a forum.... the million dollar question ![]() Personally I wouldn't class this one as established, more fledging with some great members and a lot of anonymous visitors. Sites like V7, UKBF Digital Point etc are established, with a huge following. If you have lots of spare hours in your day, are happy to combat against Johnny spammers who are intent on dumping web links all over your site, and spend the first 6 months pretty much talking to yourself, then go for it! Why not find an established gift forum, and become known as the go to gift person, rather than the pain of running your own forum?
Steve is right in saying that the easy part is setting up the forum. The hard part is to get people in the gift industry/interested in the gift industry knowing about the forum. Have you thought about setting up a simple, optimised website with an auto-responder (Aweber)? On the website front page you will have good and original content about the gift industry and where you fit into it. The auto-responder will capture people's email addresses (opt in). To get them to give you this information offer something free that will be of interest and benefit to them. They will have confidence in you. You will then be able to send emails to them inviting them to the forum and also be in a position to 'sell' to them. This can be a traditional website or a blogging platform (Wordpress - wordpress.org). Andrew Kind regards, Laura

I think I will give it a try, but it is not going to happen right now, maybe in 6 months. Thanks Jerry D Amazing Gift Boxes
Steve's right - they're easy (ish) to set up but they're a lot of hard work. Eagle |
