Well what did everyone think of the closing ceremony?

Personally I thought it was pretty good, visual effects of the "pixels" being held by the audience I thought was amazing.

Great to see a Floyd tribute, shame there was no David Gilmour

My favourite bit was a virtual Freddie and Brian May doing Brighton Rock, but guess that wont appeal to everyone's taste! Especially if your under 30

Felt it got a little disjointed at the end, and assumed Eric Idles number was the end.

But overall very good.

Got to be honest, was genuinely worried we would be eclipsed by Beijing, but what an amazing couple of weeks. Fantastic opening ceremony, impressive looking venues, good medal tally, good finale, and thankfully security incident free (or at least publicly).

No doubt the media will bring us back down to earth with the usual doom and gloom, we can't afford it, Olympic park will be an white elephant etc..

But after a tough few years, it was nice to have a break from reality for a couple of weeks and the country in the main (apart from Barney ) seemed to pull together!

What does anyone else think? And any non UK members, were you happy with the games? I don't think there will be too many complaints from the American or Chinese camps!

All they need to do now is find some dodgy accountants to balance the books and make us all believe it was a financial success. I think I would have warmed to it more had British companies and local businesses been involved, which is what it was sold to us when bidding for the games. So much more could have been done for the UK as a whole. They've already lost a few quid on this deal But it's not their money to lose, it's mine and yours and every other taxpayers. No one in their right mind constructs a complex such as this to sell at a loss, like I said it's not their money and their do the same thing with the banks...Oh they have already

Thanks,
Barney

I thought the closing ceremony was fantastic - Jessie J - what a star

I missed it unfortunately. I did catch the news last night that had the folks from Brazil saying the next one would be better, and that there was going to be a lot of partying. lol sounds almost typical of Rio, but I have to say that I enjoyed watching the games in the UK, and think Rio has their jobs cut out for them.

Thanks,

What does anyone else think?

The whole 2 weeks were great! Reality will sink in now, though I'm trying to drag out the feel good factor by also going to the Paralympics for a day.

Full credit to the organisers for making these Paralympics the first to be sold out....

BBC Sport - Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson praises Paralympic ticket sales

It'll be interesting to see if they can do that in Rio....

Was devastated whenb it ended, love it how it took verybody by surprise.
