True. It is still young, but seriously abused. That abuse led to Google tightening its belt, which led to even more abuse, rinse, later, repeat.

I'm all for the updates, seriously, when it helps us find what we're looking for quickly, without having to wade through the snake-oil salesmen to get what we need. Problem is that at the moment people are taking a lot of collateral damage, so Google would need to fine tune these updates so that it only targets the ones intended.

I mean, if they can follow the footprints of links created, why can't they go to sites like SFS, and follow those footprints, and create lists of targets instead? It would be too much to do, I guess. having the algos set to look for certain criteria in a site would be easier. (IMHO - Don't shoot the messenger )
