Hi Jack Bots, Spiders, link bots, crawlers etc are all the same thing. Just automated scripts which go crawling round the web capturing information, indexing, archiving content etc. They can be created for malicious reasons, or can be routine programs. Examples of routine ones are the googlebot, which indexs the web for it's search results, bingbot which does the same for Bing. If you are worried about a particular bot, you can exclude it from your robots text file (see here for info about robots text file)
