If you drive around Westminster you'll see that the majority of tourists will be taking photos either with their ipads or camera phones. It is only the hardcore Japanese tourists who seem to love trawling the streets of London with 10 different telephoto lense bags swinging from their necks... Thanks, Barney
Yes, it is sad news. But even sadder for people that have vouchers or goods to return, as they will not be honoured or accepted. Holborn Direct Mail 020 8683 7155
“Yes, it is sad news. But even sadder for people that have vouchers or goods to return, as they will not be honoured or accepted.” Aha, good old Tescos to the rescue ![]() “However, supermarket Tesco said that it would give a full refund to any customer who had recently exchanged Clubcard vouchers for tokens to spend with Jessops. BBC News - Jessops camera chain in administration” It's a shame, but I suspect not that many people are that surprised. With the explosion of digital technology in the camera world, and as Barney says combined devices that incorporate cameras, the traditional camera shop was always going to suffer. They needed to sell themselves on stuff they could do better, customer service, advice, help. We took both of our kids to Jessops to get their passport port photos done (try sitting a 3 year old in a Photobooth!) But we only found out about this by word of mouth from other parents, and it wasn't obvious they offered this service when you went in the shop. But they couldn't have been more helpful. Maybe the could have offered professional photo services, weddings etc, or editing amateur video from hapless people like me. Oh well, another one bites the dust... such a shame.
...good news for Peter Jones of Dragon's Den. I've just heard that he now owns Jessops. BBC News - Dragons' Den star Peter Jones excited by Jessops re-launch Holborn Direct Mail 020 8683 7155

I hope so, fingers crossed ![]() Website looks the part, and it's nice to hear one of these brands come back from the dead, albeit in a revised much smaller state! www.jessops.com Nice touch from Peter Jones, he's identified the main crux of the hight street, people go touch and feel, then shop online for the cheapest deal, we're all guilty of it. But he says Jessops will be the cheapest camera wise and the on and offline price will be the same. Be interesting to see how many others follow (or can afford to follow) this model. |
