Of course I love swimming, I go swimming in a public pool every other weekend. But do you know that 20% of swimmers in any given public swimming pool pee secretely inside the pool as they swim? Well I read this article in some old magazine. I still do not know what to think but as for this weekend I will take up another activity and not swimming. Roxy

Apparently (so someone told me in the pub years ago, so must be true) The stinging in your eyes and the strong smell is the pee reacting with the chlorine which they have to put in the water to kill all the germs.

I'd always understood swimming pools add a chemical to the water which changes colour around the pee, so shaming the pee-er! May be untrue but if enough swimmers believe it, it'll work as a deterrent Linda CareersPartnershipUK
