Inspired by another thread about Google Safari Snooping, I thought I'd have a quick gander at our own analytics, comparing Mobile and non mobile versions of our UK Directory.

Interesting stuff, for us at least, Safari is the dominant force in the mobile world, but good old internet explorer hangs in there as the number one for PC/laptop based browsing.

Mobile Device Based Browsing:

I'm a bit baffled by the number 10 playstation entry? Not being a PS owner, I assume this has a built in browser? Does it behave like traditional browsers? Will confess to never testing against games consoles!

Mobile traffic is interesting in the iPhone versus Google powered device. Nearly 55% of mobile traffic came from Safari, so I'll take that as an iPhone, and only 32.5% came from an Android Browser.

So on our site at least, iPhones appear to be more popular!

So does this echo your own website? Or is the picture different?

I'm seeing similar on mine. I was never too worried about app testing in Safari because of a low market share, but now I'm seeing the analytics stats back, it's yet more work to do!

Makes me wonder if people will start installing Chrome for iPhone.
