Couldn't believe this article from Search Engine Land:

There are quite a few dominant american businesses operating in the UK who get away with murder for example UK tax google,starbucks just to name a few

If I'm right them Google is a registered company in the US which means that for any claims of any kind arising in any other countries where Google provides its services, the US legislation will be applied.
