Doesn't seem possible does it? 10 years since aviation technology started going backwards...

Would love to have flown on her, but alas I was destined for cattle class and slow haul flights

At least that's one up from travelling on Ryanair

I happened to be in Bristol once and saw Concorde flying overhead. Am definitely not a techie but she was beautiful.

Went to Duxford the other week and walked past and under one of the prototypes on display.
Even today the Concord looks futuristic. What a shame they simply become uneconomical to keep and maintain.

it was a beautiful piece of engineering and design. i do however understand why it had to end.

had the pleasure of being in one (on the ground mind you, as a museum exhibit), but it was a bit cramped.

so what we need, is a modern version. flying at such speed has its advantages, like high altitude. high altitude means less air-resistance, less air-resistance means less fuel used. apply some more modern technology to it, and i think they could do it, but is anyone willing to take the risk?

Thanks,

There was loads of talk years ago of different technologies bouncing of the curvature of the earth, and ramjets and all sorts of good things, that gave a flight time to Australia of a few hours. But it' seems to have all gone quiet, so guess we are stuck with long haul flights for sometime to come
