No egg-sucking here, not even the chocolate ones... I only got sitemeter when my trolls progressed from ignorable insults to scary threats and I needed to see where they were coming from, I've never actually done any analysis of my blog.

I hadn't realised that there was a difference between visits and hits, but you're quite right - the 40-50 per day is visits, the number of page views is just under double that.

Sorry. I'm on a huge "learning is fun!" kick at the moment and you guys are just feeding it.

I'm with Mary here, before joining this forum I new not a thing about websites, SEO (not even knowing what it stood for until a few days ago!) and page ranking and I'm enjoying learning, it's getting my mind active again after being turned to goo, I pretty sure my darling children did that to me!

So thanks guys!

I ranked 1/10 but in all honesty I don't know what that means!

I've always thought this Wikipedia page was a good explantion (and it hasn't changed much from when I last saw it). It shows the value of good, quality links - rather than just quantity.

Its been various for me quite good on my site but on other not so good!

Thanks,
Kevin.Wiles

Yes!! I got 4/10 and I am quite satisfied

I only got 2/10 so a lot of work to do. Also changed my page names and noticed a temporary drop in site visits, hopefully it will let me catch up with my quotes, lol.

From the SEO perspective, Page Rank (as discussed here e.g. tool bar page rank) is no longer important. How ever, Page Rank the algorithm which is about relevance of the site linking to you is very much live and kicking.

Am I right in thinking the update is rolled out quarterly?

My site went live in January and we got a rank of 1 in April so frantically adding more content and trying to find quality links to give it another boost in July (hopefully).

Google makes changes every day, but tends to implement them once a quarter... you are doing the right thing - add content, add quality links - don't worry about (toolbar) PR , it's not important anymore.

Recently changed from page numbers to page names and down went the hits. Google took its time indexing my site map, but page names really work, the traffic is back and more pages being visited.

There goes the phone!

Mine doesn't even rank. Although I am not surprise as my website only went live last month. I have joined a few online directories and I am getting a few calls from companies claiming they can get my website to page 1 but for a fee.

I am fairly new to all this so not sure where to start. I have been quoted
