Well after much speculation (and frustration) Googles much anticipated link spam algorithm went live on Friday night according to Search Engine Land.
The Penguin algorithm was designed to analyse a websites linking profile, as links being Googles original currency of trust. The theory was the more sites that linked to you, the more popular you were, so Google gave you better rankings in the search results, meaning more traffic, leads, sales etc.
So it's not surprising links have been a key battle ground for more unscrupulous website owners and people peddling SEO services, forcing Google to react quite aggressively.
But as with all wars, there is collateral damage, and many web masters have been impacted by the now notorious Penguin as Google rules change, and what was ok yesterday is now liable to get you punished.
But unfortunately after a series of Penguin updates, Google has been very slow to roll out another one since the last update back in October 2013, and the last major release was back in May 2013: Penguin 2 - son of Penguin
So has anyone seen or spotted any positive or negative impact from this change?
