There was an incident in the news recently where a police woman investigating a break in at a local garage, tripped on the kerb within the garage premises, and sued the garage owner for her injuries, as the garage forecourt was badly lit.

The news report then revealed the number of personal injury claims made by police officers against members of the public and victims of crime and the number was staggering and totaling
I've listed my details on so many online directories that I've actually forgotten most of them.

Probably conduct a Google search for my business then keep a list of all the directories where I find my details.
Hi guys

I am currently in the process of starting up a mobile catering business. My main customer base will obviously be within the local community, but I am wondering whether to market myself more towards local firms (i.e they may need caterers for events they are holding).

Initially I was going to market myself towards Joe Bloggs so to speak, who maybe have parties, funerals etc that they need catering for....but going towards businesses could be more profitable?

I understand i can do both but from a marketing point of view I always feel it's best to zoom in on one area rather than trying to be everything to everyone.

All help would be appreciated, thanks!

I've recently started a mobile bar service (Licenced) and have successfully gained repeat business from some organisations and groups (Burns clubs etc.) who have regular meetings and dinner dances.

I have also left some leaflets with the caretakers in local community halls.
Do you see some improvement 16th May 2013 9:44 PM
January & February have always been extremely quiet for me in my photography business, however January & February this year have been busy enough to keep the bank manager off the phone.

Business in general seems to have increased this year compared to the same period last year.
Do you run a business from home? 16th May 2013 9:29 PM
Personally I think home based work offers to many distractions- unless your home alone off course. Family and friends, tv and regular breaks, if your working from an office your more strict with yourself.

I've worked from home for around ten years now and I experience all the above distractions (and more) on a daily basis. . .

Granddaughters tantrums (sometimes while I'm on the phone).
Wife calling me for tea (sometimes while I'm on the phone).
Wife calling me for favourite tv program (sometimes while I'm on the phone).
Wife needs/wants help with shopping
If I'm on the computer/internet I'm not working (says wife)
Spare room/office is also used for storage.
etc. etc. etc.

I really miss having a proper office/studio to go to work in (though I don't miss the bills).
