Most people who work from either have a flexible lifestyle or they have the drive to make a success out of their business. I know that working from home may seem like a good idea but if you can get into the office then that would be my preferred choice as i seem to be able to get more work done due to less distractions.

If you have a flexible lifestyle then working from home is your best option.

I think you should be well disciplined and self-motivated to run business at home. There are a lot of distracting things there and you have to separate time spent with the family and time when you are working.

Sometimes it is hard as your family members do not understand that. You need to explain them that you should not be bothered while working.

Personally I think home based work offers to many distractions- unless your home alone off course. Family and friends, tv and regular breaks, if your working from an office your more strict with yourself.

working from home have benefits as well as its losses also.
doing business from home requires strong commitments because chances of loosing grip over commitment is larger.
Flexibility is high for working hours but most of the income continues until you are working.
Peoples are mostly thinks home workings that they would be weak in their commitments of work because of distraction from work is most probable.

I've worked from home for around ten years now and I experience all the above distractions (and more) on a daily basis. . .

Granddaughters tantrums (sometimes while I'm on the phone).
Wife calling me for tea (sometimes while I'm on the phone).
Wife calling me for favourite tv program (sometimes while I'm on the phone).
Wife needs/wants help with shopping
If I'm on the computer/internet I'm not working (says wife)
Spare room/office is also used for storage.
etc. etc. etc.

I really miss having a proper office/studio to go to work in (though I don't miss the bills).

I work from home, and have for the last 7 years or so. While I love the freedom of being able to work how and when I want, I am sometimes very easily distracted. Plus motivation can be a toughy when the tv is just a click away.

I wouldn't change it for the world though, I just couldn't imagine having to work for a 'boss' again in a 9 to 5 thumbsdown

I thought the OP was relating to the self employed working from home compared to having commercial premises to work from,

I think very few of us would choose to work for a boss again unless it was unavoidable.

You missed of Don't Get Done, Get Dom! lol

I also failed to mention 'The Jeremy Kyle Show' but then who's going to admit to missing that anyway.

Alan

The biggest problem I have found with working from home is that sixteen hour days become the norm!

Yes, I know the feeling. That`s why it is better to have a "working place" you arrive in the morning and leave in the evening!
