My broken landline 2nd August 2016 12:47 PM

That old photograph reminded me of the old paraffin lamps they used to use to prevent people from falling down holes.... I nicked hundreds as a kid in the hope someone would fall down..... wish I had kept them all as they sell for £25 a pop on ebay....

Years ago I went cheap, then I went expensive only to find out the Scottish based company sub- contracted everything out back to India....

Spelling out why grammar matters 1st August 2016 11:59 AM

I doubt whether many people can read or write old English script let alone speak it.... which just goes to prove that the English language either written or spoken changes naturally over time and will continue to do so....

Have never really been overly fussed about grammar, I hated school and education and as far as the school headmaster was concerned I was just a dead beat who spent my entire education looking out of the class window daydreaming..... On the flip side my goody two shoes brother who is 18 months older than me, who could do no wrong left school with his 11 plus certificate, straight to grammar school, travel the world for a year, then of to university for 5 years left highly educated.... never done a days work since. Tell a lie he did manage to get a job with British Rail and within 2 weeks got bored and left that was in 1979 since then all he has done is attend some form of education course. And when you visit his house he has a whole bedroom wall obliterated with educational certificates.... Even HMRC don't bother with him as they know he's a waste of space and has never done a days work in his life.... One things for sure though, he does know where to stick his commas and can write the perfect CV..... although never has the need for one.

Must admit I prefer someone who can do a hard days graft or sell something rather than being grammatically correct..... Unless of course they are web designers or SEO experts, then I'll visit their sites and systematically and pull it apart....

Never heard of them I'm afraid. This isn't really the right forum for Asia advice, we are UK. Also can you refrain from leaving links in posts unless it's relevant (ie an article or source reference).

So are you saying that all those energy saving tips I gave were a waste of time? Who'd have thought

Survival of the Fittest..... 26th July 2016 12:05 PM

Its the second rat in 2 weeks I've encountered, not sure why as the local authority collect bins weekly here, so cannot complain at them. The 10 houses in our close, all have concrete floors at ground level..... I can only assume they are feasting on leftovers from neighbours bbq's ..... Use to see plenty of frogs and field mice here but over the last 12 years the numbers have dwindled.... But never any rats.... One things for sure, once we've moved the rat population will increase....

Survival of the Fittest..... 26th July 2016 12:31 AM

Well when catty met ratty in the early hours of yesterday morning.... catty won Found this flipping thing at 4am on the front door mat..... Either a brave or stupid rat that ventures into my garden with 9 cats on the prowl.... I haven't got the heart to tell the new owners

There was an article in yesterdays daily mail saying food outlets were paying £100 a day to attract gamers to their premises.... Not sure what its all about and have absolutely no intention of finding out.... But think I would not be too happy if I were to go out for the evening if everyone was playing on their phones...

Commuting saves me around 2 hours a day, but to be honest unless I'm working 30 miles plus away from home, I'll leave home after the school run and after all the traffic accidents and then the same on the way home in the evening... I find doing this I get to change up into second gear and just as I'm about to get into third gear you see the sign 20mph max

Maybe I'm missing something........... but I ain't got a flipping clue what your on about all looks the same to me All I know is, is that out of lets say one billion websites out in cyberspace yours is the only one where I have to open firefox to read anything otherwise it just comes up as the mobile website..... ever since the last revamp, not even sure I find it annoying anymore, obviously other sites have mobile sites and i don't have a problem with anything else...
