Ahem, it's a well known fact that bones get heavier as you move into your thirties ...
what is keyword prominence? 29th November 2012 4:22 PM
When writing my blog, I was advised to start the title of each item with the relevant keyword phrase and repeat that phrase in the first sentence (eg Student Careers Advice That Works in 2010).

This approach seems to work (at least for a short while); the articles often get to pge 1 for the Google UK results.

The focus on getting page 1 placings means my stuff doesn't read brilliantly well but it's "good enough".

A lot depends, I think, on the wording in your quotes.

It's another #!%#@! diet (a particularly extreme version I'll grant). It wouldn't attract me, even though I'm embarked on the long, slow and exceedingly boring task of clawing back unwanted weight gain.

The problem about diets is that they don't work longterm (your body gets better at staying equally fat on less food).

Google's also updated it's search results page recently..

If you make a tool obvious, people use it: if it's not, they may not ... so this change could be very bad news. You now have to click on search tools to restrict your search to the UK instead of seeing that option on the left-hand side of the page. Damn!

Typically, Careers Partnership (UK) was on the first UK page for lots of search terms so we got a fair whack of enquiries from people who only wanted to look "local". We're on the first Google page of the web for very few items and it would be a huge step upwards to get us on more. Back to the article writing methinks ....

Three steps forward, one step back ... still progress and still a better base for the next move forward. You're winning, you just haven't won yet!

I'm terrified of heights. It took an awful lot of scrabbling round at the top of the 30 foot "cliff" before I managed to abseil down it, even though I wanted to (?????). You want to be free of the dreaded weed - it's not surprising if there are some setbacks before you manage it. Success begins today! Good luck, Linda
I use anchor text links on the (far too few!) ezine and "agony aunt" careers articles I write. They do seem to help.

I've heard it's fairly typical to put on 5 - 7 lbs.

That's a nuisance amount of weight to shift, rather than an insuperable obstacle. I tend to put on a similar amount every winter and have to get rid of it by the summer (3 sessions daily of going up and down the stairs 20 times a session usually works!).

Having (biggish chunks of) low calorie food on hand to eat as and when I'm conscious of being hungry helps. I keep half-pineapples in the freezer; they only take 1- 2 minutes full-power to microwave into eating readiness and they're comparatively time-consuming to eat, discouraging further nibbles.

I don't buy snack items as such so I'm not faced with temptation.

If you're very self-disciplined, you could try making yourself drink 3 half-pints of water before you allow yourself any non-meal snacks. Harsh self-discipline doesn't work for me so I look for the easier options.

You want to stop smoking, all you're looking round for now is the best, most efficient way of doing so. I think hypnosis is a great idea.

My aunt tried it and it worked for her (she needed to lose weight for health reasons - and because of those health reasons, slimming through exercise wasn't practicable).

Hope you find stopping smoking very much easier than you imagined ... try planning a regular supply of treats to reward every day, week and month that you're smokefree.
