So who has seen the new Google Pony update this week?

It was believed to have started last Friday and continue through the weekend, I have noticed it on a few keywords

Luckily enough for me my site moved up the rankings

Thanks,

Well this seems to be a coined phrase from zee German firm, searchmetrics, but it does appear there was a large update last Friday(ish).

I've spoken with a biz directory owner who got hammered, and we were swapping notes, but we've actually seen a significant increase in adsense revenue (about 10%), but minimal increase in traffic, which is very odd and doesn't make sense.

Although good news, I'd like to know exactly what's happened rather than playing a game of chance!

Googles also updated it's search results page recently, so no idea if thats related as part of the same update, but personally prefer the older view...

Wish they would reign in their engineers and stop playing and changing things!

Google's also updated it's search results page recently..

If you make a tool obvious, people use it: if it's not, they may not ... so this change could be very bad news. You now have to click on search tools to restrict your search to the UK instead of seeing that option on the left-hand side of the page. Damn!

Typically, Careers Partnership (UK) was on the first UK page for lots of search terms so we got a fair whack of enquiries from people who only wanted to look "local". We're on the first Google page of the web for very few items and it would be a huge step upwards to get us on more. Back to the article writing methinks ....

I agree I think it's more awkward, you have to select the "search tools" button rather than naturally clicking on web and being able to select UK. In my mind you would simply select web and it would drop down as it does after you click the search tools

That said, I noticed a search for Careers Partnership showed you as number 1 on Web and UK, and Career Counselling showed you as number 5 Web, and 6 UK, so even in default web mode, it's still pretty geographic local (ie UK etc). Or are you seeing some really skewed results between web and UK?

Now there's Google Pony? This is the first I've heard of it.

Probably not the best response anymore.

Anyone else know anymore about Pony? Seems more like a rumour than an official update having a quick look at what people are saying online.

This from search metrics, is about the best I can get on the subject. It looks like another quality update of sorts.

I can remember saying something about it before, was just not sure if it was here or somewhere else. Used the same post as a reference as well. Ah well
