PostsScam? 8th May 2012 6:04 PM I'll have you know "they" want me to be in "Who's Who" so much they've sent umpteen invitations! ![]() Mylocalforums 7th May 2012 8:45 PM The only thing I've found that works for me is to phone the debtor immediately payment is overdue and keep phoning every couple of days. I count on them getting so sick of hearing from me they'll pay up asap just to stop the calls. Chasing debts like this is the pits. ![]() Can you believe it? 3rd May 2012 9:26 AM So pleased to hear the good news about them dropping the court case ![]() Feel the local authority will back off quickly once they realise you stopped to rescue the 'hog - I wouldn't care to be one of the councillors or officers trying to explain to the local press why you should be penalised for saving such a well-loved animal from certain death! Incidentally, you've probably also saved your fellow motorists from shunts too; swerving to avoid a moving object in the road isn't the safest thing to do on a crowded carriageway. Bank Lending and Media Hype 1st May 2012 8:52 PM Quite a vote of confidence in your business and you, Barney ![]() Are there easier ways to check behaviour of users of ezine articles plse? 30th April 2012 1:58 PM Thanks Steve. Will try freelancer.co.uk and if anyone then comes up with a low cost, good tool will strongly and repeatedly suggest to the goarticles and ezinearticles management teams that they invest in it! OK I'm a cheapskate ... on the other hand, the ezine directories' offer to us author punters is that we'll get oodles of SEO value from published articles, so you might argue the directories are mis-selling if they don't take "reasonable steps" to prevent scraping. Internal HR People 30th April 2012 12:06 PM I suspect quite a high percentage of very small companies (60%?) simply hope they'll never make a bad recruitment decision, have to make a worker redundant and so on. HR matters usually get dealt with by the owner or his / her PA - whether they've relevant backgrounds or not. There's heavy reliance on networking to find good staff, locate training courses and find answers to specific HR problems and questions. The small companies concerned to protect themselves from potential HR problems seem to subscribe to the Croner law updates service or similar competitor services. Such services often include access to a human advisor for an extra fee. My "gut feeling" is that most companies would only take on a part-time HR professional when they've got 20 or more staff. I provide "in-house" recruitment and psychometric assessment services for SMEs recruiting key staff - the take up of these services is mainly with businesses which are much more sophisticated and ambitious than most or are having difficulty in deciding which of two good candidates is the better bet for the company. Companies that really don't want to do their own recruitment unaided often rely on recruitment consultancies to do the job for them. They're often not very selective about the consultancies they choose to work with. They rarely brief them well. Smartphone & Business emails 26th April 2012 3:31 PM And why, oh why don't the manuals give you this information in the first place! ![]() Writing customer manuals that actually meet customers' needs is a job for a good Technical Author. I reckon most technical manuals get written by the techies (who don't enjoy the job and can't understand why users get so easily flummoxed). When I've been buying new kit, one of the criteria was usually whether there was a good manual to explain it. I can't be the only customer like this - so why are most manuals so B***** awful? Are there easier ways to check behaviour of users of ezine articles plse? 23rd April 2012 3:57 PM Hi everyone I write articles for directories in the hopes of getting backlinks, then the web sites using those articles quote them without including my web links and company / personal details ... thumbsdown I complain to the relevant directories - who tell me to contact the webmasters of the offending sites and to tell them to include the links, etc or take down the articles ... thumbsdown It's a time consuming business checking firstly that the links etc are in place, then contacting the sites that have failed to honour the conditions. Are there any quick and easy fixes please? Ideally, I'd like to persuade the directories to act but failing that would much appreciate being told about any short cuts "authors" can take to achieve the same ends. Yours hopefully, Linda Blogs?????? 23rd April 2012 12:24 PM Lotsa stuff out there on the web about blogging. I'm both an amateur and a lazy blogger so plse take what I say with several handfuls (not pinches) of salt ... Many of us use blogging to attract visitors to our web sites. If you search engine optimise your blogs and place anchor text links on your blog back to relevant pages of your site, then you've a chance of improving your site rankings in the search engines. If you write lots of new stuff that's useful for visitors to know, they may return to your site more often and eventually become customers. Check key word popularity and competitiveness before you start to write your text and titles (try the free Google tools). I'd have thought your line of business would lend itself to blogging.
